Very excited! I was notified today that my 328 will be judged at this year's Americana Concours.

I know a number of Fchat members have been judged and some won (Napolis). So I'm looking for some adivice on what to do to prep the car and what the judges look foor when reviewing the cars.

Also, can you recommend a detailer on LI.

    Thanks!

My Diablo has been picked to be judged and my esprit has been picked for show but not judged. So I will be there. I also need to find a good detailer because during non winter months I use these cars as daily drivers and they need to be cleaned up a bit

Andrew, Just give it a really good cleaning and a nice wax. You will be judged and unless you have a pristine example of a 328 you probably are not going to win a concours event. See how you fair agains non-driven cars, but I would not put 2-3K into a cleaning to go to an event which is really more of a car show/fantastic event unless you are really showing a true collector car.

Nice and cozy. I'd never let my daughter out on her first date if the guy showed up in that car. His intentions would be too obvious.

That's a good point. Maybe I'll change my perspective and try to introduce her instead. Jim, if you hear a little girl yelling out something like "Yo Meg, get out! That's my seat, girl!" ...that'll be us.

The exterior is fairly pristine. The interior shows some wear. That why I asked if anyone knew what the judging criteria was. Do they look at the interior, engine, etc. or just the exterior?

This event is FARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR from a concours event..
Its a beauty show at best...
People that service their cars at the sponsors shops will Trump anything that any outsider brings to the show..
Small world politics are in play here...if the public thinks a winner was prepared at the sponser , they will go there!

Truly the only North east Concours is Greenwich..save your energy and just enjoy the Day!

    It is a great gathering!
been to every one of them

My car has been picked for show-non-judged and I am asked to arrive at 8am. Do I have to stay there all day or can I leave after a couple of hours? Anyone know?

The only complication for those who want to leave early is if your car is parked East of the viewing stand. Since they queue up the winners via a line of cars that runs East, anyone parked in that area is stuck (blocked). So the rule would be leave before noon for a troublefree early departure. But this event is so cool you might find yourself staying through 2:00.

Thanks for the info. I am just concerned that spending 6 hours there might be a bit much

Plenty of folks to speak with and meet, good food and a very friendly environment.

Hope to be there with my Jag, had the 308 there last year.

We usually meet up on the expressway, at the rest stop, around the Commack Rd exit. Not sure if this is what you had in mind; its def not the east end;)
