Napolis: In your experience, why do you think it is that Luca is resisting any concept that involves a wing? Is it aesthetic? Is he afraid of the Maserati MC 12? Is his resistance rational?
I don't see the curb weight of either car being under 3000LB at least not here in the states. The new car is lighter though, and they have been looking at the P1 for some time now. They know what they're up against. Ferrari are actually changing a few things as we speak. I hope they achieve the record that they are after.
same question goes...what's the point of a roadgoing Ferrari V8 or V12 spinning to 8500 or 9000? it's just another way of increasing output, by increasing engine speed, given a limited set of established factors..ie, displacement, VE, etc. these days, thanks to advances in tech, road cars can rev to ridiculous max and do it reliably. and of course, there's headroom built into production engines, so the idea of 4.8L V10 screaming to 10k and beyond without detonating and without accruing painful development cost isn't far fetched. plus, with higher redlines, engine maps, gearing ratio's can be played with, making the overall experience something else. hmm..you don't think sub 7:15 on less than great tires, without massive aero is spectacularly fast (and will be even faster with gumball tires and more power, aero)? that's faster than Zonda F, Enzo, MC 12, Carrera GT, GT2 RS, 599GTO, etc, etc. Chris Harris says the LFA NB is the most thrilling car he's ever driven at the Ring. remember, the amazing F1 V10's of the early and mid 2000's made approx 50hp per 1000rpm increase in max revs (not comparing valve tech of course)..they were almost touching 1000hp at a hair under 20,000rpm! also remember, the LFA is a test bed for future tech, and Toyota is heavily invested in LMP1 racing as well...so who knows what/why. it very well could be simply as you said...'because they can'... anyhow, back on thread topic
i'm still amazed today, just how much y'all took out of the Enzo (wgt, aero imbalances, ugliness and how much y'all put back into it. when rumours first surfaced all those years ago, about how some random collector was going to rebody an Enzo, i was thinking, great, a bored and visionless 'collector' going west coast customs. but it didn't take long to see that the project would be a little more involved.... the passion, engineering y'all put into the one off was nothing short of awesome. we're waiting eagerly for the P4/5 LMP next...
You are right I was being a bit unfair to it. And 7:15 is really fast when did that happen? The lfa is that supercar everyone loves to hate. I personally love it. I can't see why toyota needs to make any more variants or what they stand to gain from it. I mean building exotics is not what toyota is known for. For ferrari it's what they do. But yes I can see that being a testbed for future tech. So I can't complain. I love that ocd attention to detail the original had, I know very little about the lfa nb edition. In fact I know nothing about it other than it is a presumably hotter variant of the standard supercar. All I can tell you about the lfa from a personal standpoint is when I saw one in person at the local autoshow I got a very strong urge to lick it. In fact someone may have restrained me. Anyways stop talking about the lfa. You are waking me up. Back on topic. Ya f70. I have nothing relevant to add, I'll just go now.

Ok so I do have a relevant question for the f70. Looking at the tub it kinda looks like it will have ford gt style doors. Ford gt style dihedral doors. I can picture that. Can anyone confirm or deny my suspicions?
It's nice to have more f70 stuff may help keep things on topic more... Tho I think most are sick of waiting
See the video in this thread, door is open at ~ 8 sec mark... http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showpost.php?p=141728343&postcount=1394
Lovely thank you. Some bits of the prototype seem to be at odds with what they are claiming to be aiming for, although that could be just to fool prying eyes, the front overhang from some of the other pictures. Maybe it's just me. But they are claiming a compact lightweight high downforce vehicle with an insane power to weight ratio.
A lot of the elements won't carry over... Plus more changes are currently underway as Ferrari are doing a re think on a few elements... The final with be smaller than the Enzo but not massive but the weight etc will be...
F70 will have more space for legs? http://images38.fotosik.pl/1804/a196679469c6a6a6.jpg http://images47.fotosik.pl/1565/08e006148c01b259.jpg I don't see this in enzo tube http://images42.fotosik.pl/595/47b04d9493476b69.jpg
