Sutil to goto Mercedes in 2013
Adrian Sutil to return to F1 test duties with the help of bespoke glass manufacturer Swarovski Crystal

Sutil was quoted as saying “thanks so much for Swarovski for getting behind me, this opportunity could not have come at a better time." Asked about the assault on Eric Lux after the Chinese Grand Prix in 2011, Sutil stated “Eric just had a glass jaw, I slipped and tapped him” It later turned out the “assault” actually had Sutil cutting Lux’s throat with a champagne flute.

The incident looked like the final flutesong for Sutil's Formula 1 career, but todays announcement has the German back in the cockpit and ready to fight, as opposed to picking up rubbish on the side of the AutoBahn for 12 months as part of his conviction.

While happy to be part of the F1 circus, Sutil will still have restrictions including the following:
• He must report to the local police station every race weekend in 2013
• Cannot be seen associating with Flavio Briatore or Bertrand Gachot
• Must wear an ankle bracelet at every race weekend (this was not part of his conviction, just a personal request by Sutil during sentencing)

 

Wow, someone is letting him back into an F1 car? Interesting

 

What on earth do associations with Flav and Gachot have to do with Sutil?

I'm still so staggered by Lewis leaving Mclaren and Mclaren accepting Perez I guess I would have believed anything. I did think it was ironic that the sponsor named was Swarovski

Oh, just now got that part myself. I figured the article was a funny, but some of us see "Swarovski" and think riflescopes, rangefinders, binoculars, and spotters, forgetting about their crystal jewelry and beloved Disney figurines. I suppose if broken they would make fearsome weapons too.
