If so, should Ferrari make him #2? If not, then, what do you do?

Schumacher took Massa under his wing, and made him a much better driver back when they were teammates. When Felipe was actually very competitive.

Schumacher is one of the best drivers of all time.

No, I would not make Schumacher #2, he would not take the job. What I would do is understand what driver contracts come up at the end of 2013, decide who I want for 2014, go to them and sign them up now, and keep Massa around until then.

In 2006, Schumacher was better than Massa.

In 2009, Massa got clonked on the head and has never been as quick since.

But, Schumacher is older and almost certainly slower than he was in 2006. However, Schumacher was always the best at car development and setup, and Massa is not much good at all.

Yes, I think Schumacher now is better overall than Massa now.

Italian TV has reported that Michael`s Manager Sabine Kehm has been seen on her way to Maranello today. Exicting stuff
Here is what she had to say about the Merc decision:

SK: Michael didn't stay at Mercedes because he wasn't sure he wanted to drive and that didn't change over time. he would have been able to sign if he had wanted to earlier in the summer".

Not worth finding out IMO. Ferrari screwed up big time by not snatching Perez IMO, when he's already clearly better than Masa. Hopefully they learned from their arrogant mistake that good drivers are not going to wait until Ferrari deems them 'ready'. Until they find a suitable replacement, why risk a worse outcome? But it's pretty obvious to most of us Masa needs to go. He gave his best for Ferrari, and unfortunately after his accident, never came back the same. But it'd be an insult to just replace him with somebody worse just for the sake of replacing him IMO. I wish him luck in his future after Ferrari.

Yes; Mike is better than Massa. The drivers who are - today - clearly better than Schumacher are surprisingly few in number:
    Alonso
    Vettel
    Hamilton

The ones who are - perhaps - better:
    Button
    Webber
    Kimi
    Perez
    Just my opinion.

I would agree with all besides Webber.

Ya think!?...... I need another keyboard! ;)

    +1

I think we may be witnessing one of the greatest "dog into car" seasons there's ever been. And that's Fred's doing......

Probably - but even that's debatable IMO - Give the Schu RB6, and who knows? Pop him in the Maccy-L and *maybe*, Lulu better watch out....... ;)

    Fair enough.

I still believe that the Schu, in equal machinery, will, after a while, be quicker than his mate. Unfrtunately, it seems we'll be denied another season of debate. :(

    Unless he goes to Sauber.

    ;)

    Cheers,
    Ian

How many championships does Massa have? How many championships does Schumacher have?

    Enough said.

At the end of the day, we are all just arm chair quarterbacks.....er...drivers. None of us really know jack s**t. My only contact at the Ferrari factory retired at the end of 2011, so I get nothing anymore.

Schumacher is WAY better than Massa... not even a question.

I would HIGHLY DOUBT that Schumacher would go to Ferrari.... I dont think Ferrari wants him for a seat...BUT if IT happens I'd love it.

Is the question who is better and nothing more, or is it leading to who would do better at Ferrari if MS stepped in next year? If the latter, than i think Massa.

It takes too long to adapt.

    Phil is #10
    Schumi #12

Not getting much except Schumi is great on car set-up and analysis. Fred is too. Probably a problem. What do you do when they conflict...and conflict they will. Schumi has been harder on equipment this season.

Even an over-the-hill Schumacher is better than Massa.

IMHO Massa is the worst driver of F1 today and shouldn't even be in this formula.

I'm pretty sure once he gets sacked by Ferrari no other team will pick him up. And I can't wait for that day.

I wouldn't argue with WDCs. Of course MS leads there, but that's not the point.

The question is how good are both of them today?

And that's where MS still drives circles around Failipe: Rosberg is about as good as they get as midfield drivers and several times this season MS beat Rosberg. In qualifying as well as in the races (where it actually counts).

The Ferrari is clearly better than the Merc. So putting MS into the Ferrari, he would have easily outscored Massa this year.

PS: And as everybody on here knows I don't like either, so my bias really doesn't come into play (or puts both of them at an equal disadvantage). :)

I heard this very same thing, only I also heard Michael's jet was at the local airport too.

    Getting goose bumps.

Wouldn't be the least surprised if a phone call from the Pygmy's home in London to Maranello had predated that flight.

^ a truly unbiased opinion here from someone who actually knows something about F1.

I believe MS would have flashes of former brilliance at certain tracks in a Ferrari where he would occasionally challenge Alonso, but for the most part I expect him to be a very solid #2 producing solid points for the team.

Oh have mercy Bernie would be in hog heaven if Michael were driving a Ferrari again let alone if he won a couple races.

Michael's problem now is his jet is entirely too 'in your face' which is precisely why and how it was spotted at the local terminal.

    It's why we watch..:)

Nothing is set in stone in F1, I have near enough as damn it give up, trying to work it out.

Am still in shock, with Hamilton jumping ship.

    But it's all good.
