To our friends in the US who may have taken delivery of the iPhone 5, please share how you get on pairing it with the 458.

In Australia deliveries for the new iphone start in another week, I'm hoping it is as straightforward as with the 4S.

    Same here.

There's an adaptor for the plug in if you need that coming from Apple. I never plug it in so it's no big deal. Connecting with Bluetooth will be the same.

One thing that shocked me is how well the phone works in the 458 spider. Even with the top down and while driving, both parties can hear each other without a problem. And, it's easy to use.

No, they have an adaptor that goes between the two. I think it costs $30 USD. So, we're screwed for 30 bucks. :)

The new plug, called a Lightning plug has the same amount of terminals as the old wide plug, the only difference is that it was condensed into a smaller plug the size of a Micro USB.

Apple is gonna sell adapters for the iPhone 5 to work with old cords for $35, or you can wait for eBay and China to get the same thing for $12 in a few months.

My understanding is some of the functionality is lost when using the adapter.

    Your mileage may vary...

    Guys,

No problems pairing the iPhone 5, did it recently, same procedure as 4S.

The Bluetooth functions work a treat.
