I agree re high reving NA engine (love them from 1.6 liters and upwards), but the F40 sounds nice. Lots of supercharged engines sound great too... But yes, NA > FI!

The picture also gives us an indication of far how the rear will extent and in what shape.

Very interesting image and I still dont have my magazine! Looks to be like the car might be quite 'wasted' given the Banana sills and rear packaging? But just where are the dampers?

Yes indeed. I think this is the result/benefit of making the seats fixed.
So it looks like the car will be pinched a lot behind the doors. A true coke bottle design?
Also since there are no dampers to be seen anywhere, is it possible this car could have some sort of pull rod suspension?

With the dampers being under the gearbox? Hmmm...

What I thought when I first saw this picture is that this is not an actual car, just an engine installation model. This is why it makes no sense to us. I could be wrong though.

Obviously the exhaust pipes will be a lot shorter on the final car.

1.6 turbos which most teams were fighting at the time.. I think its a total joke 1.6 cost saving might as well races minis or something I love F1 but over the last 5 years its lost so much magic

the f12 is a 6.3 and Ferrari will want a lot more power for the f70 800-900 then about 200 more with KERS I'd say very close or just on a 1000hp with 7.3 V12

Not only will it be powerful, Ferrari has pushed the fact that the new powertrain will reduce fuel consumption by as much as 30 per cent, and produce around 40 per cent less emissions than an equivalent petrol-only engine with the same power.

    As far as I know,
Ferrari patent about pneumatic system for controlling engine valves is not intended to permit highest rpm in performance engine for street use.
A mechanical spring dimensioned to close valves in a > 9000 rpm engine is a waste of energy in all rpm range. The engine absorbes more power to work in comparison to another one that rev just up to 6000 rpm.
So Ferrari system will provide :
    1) A mechanical coil spring dimensioned for low rpm (up to 4-5000 rpm) to permit the engine works also with pneumatic system failure.
    2) A pneumatic spring that start working over 5000 rpm
    The system will permit :
    1) Higher valve lift and more ‘fluid dynamics freedom’ to increase air intake and so the power output
    2) A better valves closing speed over 5000 rpm reducing efficiency losses

Sorry for the ''maccheronic english'' .... :)

    Cheers

    Luque

Just read the Ferrari Magazine article on the F70 and it looks encouraging. Apparently the car will share a wheelbase no bigger than a 458 which suggests it will be very compact and thus true to the MC project, albeit no way will they make the 1000 kg mark. Any ideas how the Enzo wheelbase is to the 458 and does that suggest a much more compact car which I would hope?

The Enzo and the 458 have exactly the same wheelbase; 2650 mm. ;)
