I bet for 4rm to stuff the tub's hole in the front's bottom. P.s. The reason Hamilton left McLaren is that at Mercedes he can keep his tacky Zonda as a company car rather than the special needs 1
All I can say, not to break any non-disclosure agreements and find myself in hot water is this car absoutley stunning. As much as I respect what McLaren have done, just wait to see what Ferrari have in store. Really, this thing is so advanced and so far ahead of anything that has seen roads before its rediclious. It is identical in size to a 458, but has a lower roofline and is MUCH lighter. The car will have more systems, dials and settings than a space station, and will feature a retractable rear wing. The shape is timeless, beautiful, and not so far from some artist impressions out there, all I can say is hourglass figure! The underside has been developed, and is much more advanced than I've ever heard of, really, if you've seen the underside of a Bugatti Veyron, this makes it look simple. The power output and emissions are the highest and lowest of any Ferrari engine respectively, and they are calling it a Hybrid system. Really, I've seen the McLaren up close, had the talk and tour, but this Ferrari is something else! All I can say is, if your excited by this car, turn your dial up 10more turns!!! Best Mike James
Mike, Thank you for the information, can't wait to hear more. Any idea when they are going to introduce it at an Auto Show or announce it? Thanks Tony
This is exactly what I was hoping for and why I was questioning the banana sills of the Paris tub as it did suggest a wasted shape. Sounds very hopeful.
This is becoming a little difficult thread hopping but finally the other thread is back on track and an interesting post which finally answers my question as to the Banana shaped sills of the Paris tub which suggested a wasted or coke bottle shape. This seems to be borne outby a post by Mike James who appears to have seen the car and clearly blown away.
Tony, honestly I didn't ask, sorry. Tim, I'm really not sure if the car bottlenecks in the middle, but certainly there's an optical illusion that makes the back look a lot wider than the front, it definatley has hips. Honestly it's hard to describe and I find myself deleting things I write in this reply, but really I can say it is a beautiful, beautiful car, and will astound everybody with its technological tour deforce. Best Mike James
Beautiful, beautiful, technological tour de force, hybrid screaming V12, wrapped in Rosso, can it get any better?
Better, probably would be getting one from the dealer rather than paying Tom Hartley for the opportunity... CH
Mike, thanks for the information. This car is going to be absolutely incredible. Will you be getting one?
Nice write-up Mike. The Enzo was years ahead of the CGT and Mercedes McLaren in 2004. I can't wait to see what Ferrari has up their sleeves ths time. I'm also hearing some great stuff!
Thank you so much for the info... Wow can't wait... Is it fair to say the V12 is in the 7 litre ball park ?
This seems to be a practical impossibility. Imagine 7 liters, 2 banks of 6 cylinders each, massive intakes, combustion chamber, exhaust, KERS, etc. All of that packed, essentially, in front of the rear wheels (except maybe the KERS). There is no place for the driver to sit if this is going to be the same wheelbase as the 458.
There are a few customer specials that I would call tacky. I never thought the Zonda was a particularly "pretty" car. It's more an exercise in quality and attention to detail and for that I appreciate them.
Remember we are talking about F1 tech and beyond... You just need to look at the Man behind it...it's all in the packaging
Mike, is it true that the Great Rory Byrne is involved in this project? If so, the packaging will be incredible as he IMHO is not far away from Adrian Newey as one of the greatest designers of the Modern Era.
I would understand that if it were a 4 liter V-12 or a modern version of the 4.4 liter. However at 7 liters, the cylinders can only be so small, and there has been no hint of a "W" arrangement. So we must assume that the cylinders are all in line, which, when combined with 3.5 liters per bank, suggests a reasonably long engine block. If the car sits as low as the 458, then you have to put that paddle shift transmission and clutch and drive train somewhere.
Look at the back of the tub and then the pic from the Magazine that V12 looks so far forward.... By doing so making more room
look at the tub again. then watch the Hy-KERS 2012 for mid engine video clip again. it all fits in there, nice and snug as you can see in the Ferrari Magazine pic.
Unfortunately, it's only a matter of time before this thread gets derailed as well Hurry up Ferrari, we want to see her
Considering how much space there is behind the Italia's seats and how long its dash is and combining it with fixed seats alternator without belt I can see them fit a 7L V12 with the help of some new technology. The seats will probably thinner than the Enzo's.
U seen his 1? http://www.inautonews.com/the-last-pagani-zonda-f-roadster-was-made#.UGprLJG9KSM Matches his helmet, his second one. Thanks God Ferrari still put style in front of money, wings, publicity, customers, lap times and likeability.
