Someone mentioned here that the 24h le mans was won by a 4WD audi, indication that's a reason for it.... under ACO LMP1 regulations, the front wheel drive can only be engaged after 120KMH...also the audi won because it was more reliable then the toyota, not because it has a better drive/hybrid sytem... Many of the people "in the know" are now convinced Toyota has a superior hybrid system with it's Super Capacitors....
Ultra is RWD car, not a really good comparison since Etrons are hybrids and Ultras are not... More realistic comparison would be Toyota vs Audi....during the course of the few rounds after Le Mans Toyota has asserted itself as the faster car. Keep in mind Le mans was the first race for the Toyota, and it was able to take the lead from Audi before it was hit by the falic mobile... Also the E-tron is not a 4WD but a hybrid with electric motors up front. no driveshaft/transmiton/differential... and it is prohibited from engaging the front wheel drive below 120 KPH, negating any benefit from 4W drive..
What I meant is that Awd Audi beat sisters Rwd Audi, after the company rightfully chose to take that direction with the new cars. No mentions about Toyota as they had a completely different car, even if they too had considered awd prior to the speed restriction. That same speed restriction on front wheel activation had been pushed by rwd Peugeot and guess why? Because otherwise the 4wd would have been too fast. Clear enough?
I suspect the final decision as to what works best will be taken by the small development abilities at Ferrari! If it makes it faster and better, they will use it, if not they will not-simple.
With this I can agree. But comparing Ultras to E-torns makes no sence since E-trons have 200hp more...thus not the same car, not even close... I know Toyota vs Etron is also not a realistic comparison, but it's the only one we have with 2 hybrid racecars one front one back...And toyota is ahead in both technology Supercap vs flywheel, and system, they mentioned that their system right now is capable of the 2014 regs, which require 16 times more capacity... They also have 300hp Kers as compared to Audi's 200HP Personaly I don't care one way or the other, I find that Hybrids/kers right now are just a publicity stunt, and part of a hype...In 5-10 years they'll be developed enough to be top of their game...But this is the direction we are going, and the best way to advance it faster is to race it, and build super/hyper cars with it... I am 1000% sure the new enzo with no 200kg hybrid system would be a lot faster then the one with it....or at least just as fast.. imagine a 1100kg carbon fiber super car with 800+hp...
And yet they have specifically said that they will not build it with KERS unless it does provide a performance enhancement.
1300kg with 1000hp vs 1100kg with 800hp. Power to weight ratio is higher with the 1300kg and 1000hp, simple math. It will be faster in a straight line with the KERS system, no way around it. However, if we're talking about lap times it will probably be very close as acceleration advantages will be slightly offset by slower reflexes, but the extra 30% in fuel consumption and emissions reduction will still make it worth it given same/similar lap times.
Because its expensive, complex and has weight disadvantages. Small article in the new issue of EVO magazine says that a lot of US owners of Lamborghini's are converting them to RWD only
Do you realize that the PR people work for the company and it is their job to provide accurate information. If they were not accurate, they would not be in business very long.

As I said previously, 4WD was tested in F1 and failed miserably! They were good only in the rain. PS: Do you really think you know better than Ferrari and are in a position to make recommendations on how to make the F70? The fact that it will be RWD, will make you look foolish.
I can simply say that the hybrid Audi has more power than the non hybrid one, be it 4WD or 2WD, and I would easily win this argument. Not to mention that for marketing purposes, Audi would want its environmentally conscious hybrid in front anyway. Let's wait till Toyota gains some more more experience and the we will see what 2WD can do.
We agree. 4WD is superior in slippery conditions. 2WD is quicker in good conditions though. Who would care to drive such a car in the rain anyway? Even the slightest accident would cost an arm and a leg, not to mention the fright one would get by trying to tame such a monster in a deluge.
That isn't what the door looks like, the top part that forms the roof and window is correct, but the panel of the door has shapes formed into it, not flat as depicted.
Their only job is to make the company look good, and increase the exposure. The truth, or facts have nothing to do with it.. They said that there would absolutely not be a scuderia 458 coming ever. Who here still belives that.
