No blocking was necessary. The cabinets hang on a hanger bar which is secured to the wall studs. The cabinets have a reverse cleat on the back of them which makes mounting (and re-positioning them if you ever move) easy. Its much easier to get a wall bracket level, versus having to level a heavy cabinet. You can learn more about them by clicking on my signature if interested.

Thank you for the nice feedback!

We used a finish by Sikkens, which is the same treatment used on our carriage doors. This product is now available at Home Depot. The stain color that I chose is called "Natural Cedar".

An wood finishing product must accomplish 3 objectives:

    1. Repel moisture
    2. Protect the wood fiber from UV damage
    3. Allow the wood to “breathe” and eliminate moisture

We have experimented with other brands and Sikkens has consistently outperformed everything else in these three areas. I personally recommend Sikkens brand of finishes to anyone needing to preserve exterior wood surfaces.

Geez, you have some amazing cars!

Looks like you may have a little room for a lift! ;) Time to buy some more cars! :D

Where is your 211 stored? In a trailer?

That is an amazingly simple idea really. Another one of those, how come I never thought of that. Also solves the problem of getting the car high enough to get the lift under it!!

Thanks yes the car addiction is growing unfortunately.
I have a separate "Lotus" garage on the opposite side. I'm thinking of adding on to it since my M5 sits outside for now :(
Anyone know a good general contractor?

I recently visited my friend's amazing collection! :) For any car enthusiast, this is nothing short of automotive heaven. Unlike most private collections, EVERY car in the video gets driven... HARD.
