This has been in the wind for awhile. Hope that the Speed F1 broadcast team can continue to call the races. They really do a fine job.

    Another reason to dislike FOX.

Only a few shows I have liked from FOX, Married with Children Simpsons, Family Guy, that's about it. Everything else is crap tv for the most part. I haven't had cable in a long time, but when I did, it was only for Speed to get F1 and MotoGP races. Now I just stick to downloading the practices, qual, and races. I may have to wait till they get uploaded and abstain from going online and reading any results online, but it's much better when I get a commercial-free broadcast with better commentating from BBC or SKYSports. Oh well, guess even NASCRAP might get the axe too, at least on Speed/FSP1.

I wonder if this will give Velocity channel a shot at F1 coverage.

It's all about the money. I have been paying $$$ out the ass for years to my cable company for a "package" that includes Speed TV. I pay for a hundred channels I never watch just so I can see 20 races a year.

I sense Speed has enough of a following that some other cable network will try to pick up the lost viewers from this. There are all sorts of channels out there trying to find their market.

I hope SPEED carry's on with their F1 coverage as they have three of the most knowledgeable commentators/host.

What about my best racin' programs "Raceday",
"Wildest Stuff on Wheels", "Hard Parts South Bronx",
and my 24/7 Dale Earnhardt Jr, Jr, Jr coverage?!

If I miss one lap of NASCAR Trucks practice, I gunna have a meltdown.

Damn, just spilled my Mountain Dew (breakfast of
    champions!).

+1, I'll probably end up ditching my tv package depending on where f1 ends up.

Huzzah and Halleluiah!! Good riddance. Finally we have a chance to see F1 coverage not anchored by a gang of retarded monkeys!

I'll finally be able to watch a Grand Prix live without fear of vomiting all over myself and looking for a blade to cut my wrists! It is a great day!

I know some of you think you "like" those guys, but I'm pretty sure that is because you have felt that they were your only option. I can tell you that a LARGE part of the reason F1 hasn't "taken off" in the US is the commentary team they've had on it for the last 25 years.

This is our best chance to get some fresh blood into the game.

If they do we have a chance of gaining some real audience numbers and keeping these two races we've got.

If they just hire Bongo, Bobo, Chuckles and Zippy The Pinhead back to continue clowning around... I'll still have SkySports on delay and we didn't really need F1 in the US anyway.

Speed is a joke. Fifteen years ago I could watch speed for hours at a time. Other than F1, speed hasn't been watchable for years.

I honestly don't understand how anyone can watch F1 on Speed. That network and those commentators are part of the reason F1 hasn't "taken off" in the US.

They've had the coverage for decades and the audience watching has seen ZERO growth.

I gave Speed up in the mid-2000's when P2P technology had come far enough to allow me to get UK coverage within a week of a Grand Prix airing. Yeah, I'd rather wait a week than watch Speed.

These days, I can watch UK coverage a few hours after an event, something I will continue to do as long as Speed/Fox have the F1 rights in the US.

It is time for someone new to have a chance to grow F1 in the US.

On the first statement, there's no other choice on TV in the US. Or are they? I bet it'd be cheaper than the difference from DISH's basic package to the one that carries Speed. All I watch now is F1 and MotoGP. And don't watch any of the other channels I'm paying for.

On your second statement, I couldn't agree more. Those old timers are a joke. Wish I could mute the voices :D.

As a U.S. Resident I also agree,Speeds F1 coverage is a joke. Its ok if you are new to F1,but after the first year of their brain dead nascar type commentary you are forced to find a better way, which I have, but its kinda like "fight club".........
So,I have heard that Rupert "the greedy" Murdoch who owns SKY and FOX is going to bring SKY coverage to the U.S. next year.
That will be great,BUT if they are going to bombard the race with commercials (you cannot actually watch an F1 race these days with any interruptions !) then it will be worthless.
    So Rupert,heres the deal
Give us Full SKY commercial free coverage in HD of
    FP1
    FP2
    FP3
    Pre-Quali
    Quali
    Pre-race
    Race &
    Post race
$$$$$ And charge us for it !! $$$$$
    We Will Pay !

An American Wanting Real F1 Coverage for the First Time !

One can complain all they want via a forum and yes we all have certain issues but SPEED beats FOX. As a member of the seniors club, ESPN since its inception, SPEED at this time offers the best coverage.

American Dad. Other than that, I HATE FOX.

Question: I always though Speed belonged to Fox? The F1 races were formerly broadcast by Fox and I thought Speed was just a new network brand they developed for racing fans. Right or wrong on this?

FOX -is- Speed, and the F1 coverage is exactly the same when broadcast (usually via tape delay) on FOX.

True but the races first broadcast on Fox are even more dumbed down than those broadcast on SPEED alone. They're aimed at a less informed market.

Perhaps this will allow someone who can do the sport justice to pick up the rights. Just picking up the Brittish BBC/SKY feed would be a big improvement but I'm not sure how they would integrate the commercial breaks.

Speed used to be Speedvision back in the day with really good programming. Fox bought Speedvision and it was rebranded as speed and the programming went down the crapper. Now it's all NASCAR and lame reality shows.
