Nope not just you, but not me either.

No desire for one, not at the price it is likely to go for.

Got too many other things to fix on my car. I bought a cheap Ferrari. :D

    Here is an Idea:

If you really want it why don't you post a thread about it on Fchat so the folks that didn't see the first one will see that one and potentially drive up the price even further.

You just shot off one of your feet. Don't do any more damage.

(Unless your buddy that owns it ask you to do this)

Well I got a stock top last year for $2,500. thats a fair price. So paying $4,000 doesn't really seem too out of line for a specialty item like a Saratoga top. When you add up the cost of my car's paint job, new wheels/tires, new non-cat engine pipes, brakes, and replacement of sodium valves.......paying "just" $4,000 to $5,000 for something is really cheap. Plus I could always just sell it for more.....someone will always pay more...

For example, my paint job was over 10K, and its just the stock red color......

That just has to be the explanation as the OP posted in the first thread.

I guess the only questions I have are whether "golfmaster" is the guy selling it or is he an old college friend helping a guy out?

yes golfmaster must be a fake poster thats somehow going to adjust the Ebay price upwards........he musta gone to college with the seller and drank beers with him, now they keep in touch. Maybe he is Obama's friend too...

Really guys, anything on Ebay is known to the entire world, and the items on Ebay sell for exactly what the buyer is will to pay. Its a perfect example of supply and demand and the free market - in other words "American Values". If you complain about Ebay your "being unamerican". Most people on this board regularly watch ebay for Ferrari stuff. Nobody can change the final price expect the BIDDERS!!

You will never get something for nothing......thats the way it is...good day!

Is $2500 really a fair price for the original top? I have four spare tops sitting around that I'm willing to sell for much less!

There have been plenty of "Ghost Bidders" on ebay driving prices up. "They" have nothing to lose.

Is that the situation in this case? Hope not.

But bidding should have ended well over $1500 ago.

Wow, you have a lot to learn about eBay. That trick has been around since eBay began and I thought everyone knew it. Guess I was wong.

    Don't brag on your naivety.

Ebay can't be manipulated from a ferrarichat board posting. I contacted a friend at Ebay. They won't even take the time to find/read a Ferrarichat post regarding an Ebay item. There is freedom of speech you know (this is America- but maybe you in another country)

Just bid if you want it. I am going to wait until the last minute.......

I just looked at the Ferrarichat homepage. The first category is "Ferrari Ebay Auctions".

No one said that ebay can be manipulated from an F-Chat posting.

BUT, how do you know more people with deeper pockets that 1st heard about it for sale here are now not bidding?

I bet there are at least two. And one, if he is bidding, has REAL DEEP pockets. I doubt he enters any check under $10K in the ledger.

    Yeah.

I feel bad, as I was honestly trying to help a Fellow F-Chatter out and I too probably drove prices up by the way I worded said "help."

Like Brummel's book, really only worth $30.00, this thing ain't worth it either.

I bet he is in on it because few around here could be that big a buffoon. His lack of understanding HAS to be faked.

What a shame this "Ferrari tax" is... although Saratoga tops are kinda rare these days.. I bought one for a Porsche 911 Targa about 2 months ago for $300! Its in excellent shape and has the original storage cover.

Yes, the owner whined about how he bought it brand new for $800 sometime in the 80's

An old Reliable Motoring Accessories Catalog (1988) lists that top @$900 and list the top for the 308GTS @ $1500

guess the early 911 tops were "plexiglas". The Ferrari tops were Lexan. Hugely different materials. Lexan is used in jet fighter canopy builds....

So the Ferrari Saratoga sold for $1,500 new (back in the day)? Do you have a link to that ad?

Not sure why/where you get the idea that the early 911 tops were plexiglas? They are not.. as all the Saratoga tops are Lexan.

Saratoga also produce their Lexan tops for Corvette, Mazda Rx7 and the Porsche 924 & 944 models.

There is no link for this.. these tops were produced and widely available in the 80’s.. uhh no internet link available.. As stated in my original post.. this information is from an old catalog dated “summer ’88.”
