They said they want to win a WTCC first, so they certainly have their hands full first. I bet anything they want to see a solid budget cap before they consider it.

I'd be thrilled to see Honda back on the grid! That's great news if it turns out to be true.

Current Honda is a castrated version of it's former self. I used to love them, but would rather not see it back, it'd just be painful. And I love McLaren, so as romantic as that reunion would be I'd rather not have that partnership either; Honda's V8 was ****, only better than the Toyota.

But the plan would be more to do it with the V6 turbos. It won't happen before and
    that is if it happens.

I would also love to see them joining forces with McLaren. And then if one could dream,
why not and see a white and orange car again being driven by Perez.... way cool.

Actually that would probably be best for both Mclaren and Honda. Mclaren, will get screwed by Mercedes once the new engine for 2014 is introduced. Honda needs a good shot at winning and Mclaren is the best bet. Maybe they will try to lure Vettel at the same time!

I hope they do also. Drop Indy Car (it is a losing deal) and return to hi tech F1. Honda was brillant during the 80's and 90's, as they have first rate designs and leadership. They would serve themselves well by showing how far they can bring new technology forward. Always enjoyed see the newest tech from them.

Engine freeze will be gone when the new motors come in 2014. I would think Mercedes would limit any development to Mclaren, part of the reason Hamilton went to Mercedes.

    interesting if it happens
mclaren has made some other ties (non-mercedes) for engine engineering/manufacturing help (i.e. thier production M838T V8)
i have some doubts if honda is still able to produce winning engines like they once did?

That's not what Brawn has said. Quite the opposite, in fact.

They should return as an engine supplier and not a works team.

This. Then see if being a constructor is viable.

Honda and Merc are the same to me IMO... One year they want to be in F1, another year they just want to be engine suppliers... Make up for your mind for goodness sake...

It's buy low, sell high.. Not buy high, sell low..

Regarding the new engines.. I really doubt they will do it as it will hurt the F1 brand.

Good news if early. Be nice to see a returning manufacturing concern on the grid. Id like to see a works team. The new smaller teams are not in the mix currently. It takes economic power to compete.

Honda made the Brawn car. All they needed was a good technical team behind them. Brawn (Mercedes) has won one race since that magic 2009 season. If they could do it then, there's no reason to say it's impossible to do it now. I'd prefer them to be a Works team.

The Honda engines that did well were the 3.0 V-12 and the 1.5 V-6 turbo. Honda has always made fantastic small displacement engines for all applications - they still do - but always seem to lose their advantage on larger displacement engines.

This. Too many people give Brawn all the credit, but Honda did most of the work on that car.

    I really hope so!!

What worries me is the caveat that if the rules suit them...... Well if the rules suited me, I would enter, but then again, in f1, I don't think Ferrari and McLaren would be chuffed if I asked for a £35 budget cap, and the option to use my own Ferrari instead of building a car, with every rich team having to give me £1mill a year to cover mechanic costs, but hey, Bernie, if you're listening, I'm in!
