HI: I HAVE 1969 MIURA ORIGINAL COLOR WHITE. I'M GOING TO REPAINT THIS CAR . IVE BEEN TOLD THAT YOU CAN PAINT IT ANY LAMBORGHINI COLOR WITHOUT LOSING VALUE. I WANT TO KEEP IT WHITE BUT THE WHITE THE FACTORY HAD IS DULL. I WAS CONSIDERING A WHITE BUT EITHER A CANDY OR A PEARL FINISH? WHICH I FEEL IT HAS A DEEPER RICH FINNISH THAN THE ORIGINAL WHITE. ANY OPINION'S

I think the key word would be any period Lamborghini color...IMHO, a pearl white would give it a "custom" look, which is probably not what you're going for.

White with a good clearcoat and professionally detailed and waxed doesn't look dull. Make sure you have the bodyshop take apart the car and remove all old paint, to have a good base to work on.
You should wait about 3-4 weeks before the detailing, to let the paint settle first.

Lamborghini did a bright white as c/n 4830 was. Paint it that colour with gold wheels and sills. It really is a fantastic combination.

White is a great color on a Miura.. however I can also understand you want to have your preferred color. Personally I tried to find a lime green Miura and eventually bought an orange one which is now being resprayed to Verde Miura. Of course I removed all paint and took the car apart.
Very soon we'll start on the paintjob but I really want to get the color code absolutely right and matching the original. I asked this question here 2 times but didn't see a reply yet. Is there any color code available we can use with the PPG system to get the factory correct Verde Miura ?

I saw mention of a good clear coat but I guess that's a no go for a Miura.

This is mentioned as Verde Miura:

    Paint code on car : LAMBOR-154513 - PPG code : 154513

    source: http://www.lambocars.com/pnt/lamborghini_paint_codes.html

But it gives 1996 as year used .... so is it the original ??

This is another quote I found:

I found my note on the Miura lime green paint. There is no code, but this is how you make it dead accurate. Dupont Chroma Premier SpectraMaster 1 Qt. Mix #GS101 With 1.2 parts 831J (L/S Fast Green) and 20 parts 841J (Yellow) added to GS101.

Use at your own risk ;)

Thanks for the input... indeed the PPG code is the Gallardo one.

I'll forward your Dupont code to the paintshop and have them prepare a sample panel first of course.

BTW in Mr. Sackeys book I noted that at least for the SV there were various paint codes used.
    Bertone color codes; 2-443-543 ; 2-445-001 ; 2-445-462 ; 2-465-070 etc...
So basically various tints of Lime Green co-existed on the SV.
Was this the same for earlier P400 cars ?

To the best of my knowledge (although I only researched the SV colors in-depth), but you can visually see the differences in period images between various cars.

Among your suggestion, you bed to shipp it back to Europe to Top Motors-Nonantola Italy.
Oracio Salvioli was factory period Manager of customer service & later Manage of restoration Dpt. at Sant'Agata, they are restoring so many Bulls to factory standards.

Now if you don't want to shipp to Europe due to shipping cost, there is also Gary Bobileff which is one of the best specialist for Miura, he is in this board as well...

Lamborghini factory is planning to open an internal assistance directly at the factory.

I' have crossed several shops (3) during my long restore: SG Racing di Gianni Sala in Bagno (RE), Top Motors di Salvioli Luca in Nonantola (MO), Autofficina G.B. official Lamborghini Service Crevalcore (BO).

Gianni Sala is a friend of mine, but he is better for Ferrari and Maserati than for Classic Lamborghini, or at least this is what i think.

Salvioli is very quick, even too much, in my case.

But the best of the three was Autofficina G.B., and by far: my car started to go very well just when entered this shop.

This is just the history of my experience, of course.

Just for spraying i would go to Carrozzeria G.M. in Camposanto (MO)
http://www.nuovagm.com/ or (second choiche) to Carrozzeria Imperiale in Mirandola (MO) http://www.imperialegroup.it/.

    ciao

I agree with you... regarding the factory we know both that most of the work will be done in the begining outside with regular suppliers that we all know yet !

My answer was just considering the paintshop... knowing that Oracio is dismanstling the car to be transfer on the back of his building to the other Carrozzeria........

G.B. has all my trust as he has in hands one of my engine actually...

Orazio Salvioli, Oracio Pagani: two different names, the first is an italian name, the second an argentine one.

At GB shop there is a Miura engine under full restore and a front mounted V12 engine too: which is your?
