    In my humble opinion, there are quite a few Carbed cars of this vintage and this will just become another one. I think the seller ruined this car by over saturating this vehicle with endless internet photos, ads, listings, YouTube videos and a ridicules and insulting initial asking price. To be the first car in the History of Lamborghini to be legal to sell in the U.S.A. is far more valuable than just another Carbureted 82 Countach. I think it's a no brainer to leave it just the way it is rather than spend a bunch of money to convert it back to just another run of the mill Carbed 1982 car. There is only one car in the world that was the FIRST to be legal to sell in this Country ! dumb.

    Some attach value to this, but some like me don't, and here is why:

    No matter what anyone would have you believe, that FI application was a post-production application that had nothing to do with the factory and sapped power/speed.

    Also, you cant really claim that it was the first legal USA Countach, because in fact any Countach that had entered the USA since 1974 and had submitted itself to DOT & EPA compliance was also fully USA legal.

    In fact the first Countach legal in the USA was 1120036, a 1974 LP400.

    The first FACTORY USA-spec Countach was a 1986 factory FI car, imported by my friend Joe Nastasi.

    I agree with you Joe that this car was not a FACTORY car as the current seller would like you to believe. This car was PURCHASED not supplied to Trefor Thomas with no connection to the factory. Trefor was " The director of Lamborghini North America ". He along with Jasjit Rarewala took the initiative and had the foresight to realize that these cars needed, and would eventually come to the USA. With there own money, they took this Countach and created a fuel injection system that would conform to the current US mandate for Carbon output. The 1974 car you refer to came into the US prior to this one but never underwent US emissions testing. This 1982 car was the FIRST to receive the paperwork from the Environmental Protection Agency that cleared it for for registration, title and inspection sticker in any state in the USA. Yes the horsepower has decreased with this injection system, but what does that matter, this car with the first Federal Government legal LAMBORGHINI in the country and from a historical aspect I think that has a value, what the value is, we will never now know.

    Not so.

    This car was simply the first car that was fitted with that type of (non-factory) fuel-injection system.

    Its importance in the overall scheme of Lamborghini's history, and in the hearts & minds of potential collectors is clearly debatable.

    Yes I agree Joe, IT WAS A NON FACTORY FUEL INJECTION SYSTEM !!!! But the FACT is, this was the first U.S. Government legal Lamborghini in the United States of America EVER !!!! It's OK to be wrong sometimes Joe. We all still understand that you are EXTREMELY knowledgeable.

    You are right, it is ok to be wrong, and you are here. Ask Dick Merrit: this car was treated as a privateer modified Countach to USA EPA & DOT mandates at the time by using a compliance agent. It was NOT a manufacturer's USA-legal version in the eyes of the USA government. Ive done a little research. And FWIW, my assertion had zero to do with how much knowledge I have or otherwise, it purely has to do with historical accuracy, which in this car's case has been regularly misrepresented.

    You just don't want to admit it Joe and at some level I really appreciate your tenacity.
    You keep coming up with arguments about Factory and Manufactures dis-connects with this car ! Let me try this one last time.

    Yes Joe, this is not a factory injected car.

    Yes Joe, this is a privateer car.

    Yes Joe, this is an unauthorized factory conversion.

    Yes Joe, this Injection system was not installed at the factory.

    Yes Joe, this was not a manufactures authorized conversion.

    But most important and what my original point was " as much as you try and "INJECT" gigitty the factory in to my point" regardless of the lack of factory involvement in this vehicle, in witch there was "none" yes Joe ----no factory sanction or involvement !!! THE FACT IS, THIS IS THE FIRST USA, EPA LEGAL COUNTACH TO EVER DRIVE THE STREETS OF THIS COUNTRY !!!!
