I've been planning on getting the iPhone 5 for my birthday (end of October). What are your thoughts so far. I heard the camera is having problems. I heard it was taking blurry pics. Anyone else experience this or anything else worth posting. Should I wait or is it OK?

Here are a couple of articles worth reading.

    http://www.latimes.com/business/technology/la-fi-tn-iphone-5-complaints-flaws-20120924,0,3275593.story

    http://www.cnn.com/2012/09/26/tech/mobile/iphone-5-complaints/index.html

    http://www.wptv.com/dpp/news/national/iphone-5-complaints-apple-aapl-explains-purple-photo-issue-to-angry-users

Also, do some reading about iOS 6, which is what will come on the phone. Personally, I have a 4, and after hearing those problems with the phone and OS, I'm keeping my 4, and I'm not upgrading the OS on it until 6.0.1 comes out. The biggest annoyance of me getting the 5 would be all of my electronics that were compatible with the old port. I'm not paying $30 to upgrade each thing, like the adapter in my car, or my iHome.

Its a great phone. My only issues are:
    - the new Maps is not as useful and you cannot get the old Google Maps back. Youtube is gone too but you can find it in the app store.
    - the battery runs down significantly quicker so bring a charge cable with you everywhere
    - on the cable front, the adapters are nowhere to be found yet. No ipod out on the adapter means you have to change the cable in your car to get back all the functionality you lost.

I'm on the waiting list, it should be in any day. I'm not buying because of hype, but necessity.
My only reasoning for getting the i5 (vs. the 4s)is if the cables that fit this phone may be the start of say, "the next generation of connectors", (just saying..don't know)I don't want to gear up with new accessories that won't fit my next phone. Also my wife is going to get a new iphone in the near future and I want both phones to use the same connectors. So its a bit of timing for us.
We are current droid users and have had way to many issues with them. My thunderbolt sh*t the bed, traded for the incredible4, same issues as before the 1st crashed, so brought it back and went on the waiting list. I had 4G, the wife has 3G, there is a difference.

Do the current i5 users here know of any fixes yet that I can ask about before leaving the store.
So far 1.camera 2.maps 3.youtube , are the current complaints?

Going back to read the articles from the previous post....thanks for posting.

I'm planning on upgrading because if I do, I'll still keep my unlimited data plan and it won't cost extra per month even though it includes LTE. I want to take advantage of this before AT&T does away with this practice.

Verizon told me my unlimited plan no longer exists, and I had to change plans. That was after my th-bolt died.

I supposed I'm in the minority... but I haven't had any trouble with the new Apple Maps. Seems to work fine for me... I don't understand what all the fuss is about.

One of my favorite things I just discovered is that you can press the car icon on a pin and it brings up the driving directions. Way cool.

My dad just got one...the LTE is faster than his WiFi 50% of the time. He keeps sending me screenshots of various speedtests he does throughout the day...

I'm not totally sold on the device itself. I have a 4S and knew when I got it that I was going to be very content for the next two years. I couldn't really see Apple advancing the hardware from the 4S to the 5 to the same degree that they did from the 3GS to the 4.

I'm not lusting after the 5 like I did the 4. I guess, to me, Apple really outdid themselves with the 4, and I don't really see that repeated with the 5.

I'm curious, if your navigating via your phone gps, and you get a call, do you loose the navigation feature while your taking the call? Do both features function just fine, or maybe the phone would automatically give the caller a message that your driving/ busy?
Has anyone encountered this yet with the I5?

I don't have a 5 yet but I'd imagine that it's similar to how other features work. If you answer the call you can move that to the background and go back to the navigation. Or if you don't want to be disturbed you can set up that feature in the settings an have a text sent to whoever is calling you that you'll call them back later.

2 co-workers have iPh5. 1 says maps are not an issue. Other had an issue with Wifi dropping when the screen would turn off/lock.

I will get one, or 4 S, soon as my iPh4 is beat up & glitchy (very irritating)

    Guys

If u have the itch to update in spite of the known issues and want to take the plunge ;-)
save the SHSH blobs beforehand (download/google tinyUmbrella for that) so there is an easy way to roll back if needed.
