how many 288s and f50s on the USA?

Are you talking about US spec F50s or in total?

 

From everything I recall, I want to say about 40 F50s's in the US, and fewer than 30 288's.

 

56 US spec F50s were built.

272 is the total 288 production.

Id say most of the 56 US spec F50s are still here, so I'd be comfortable suggesting "at least" 50 USA spec F50s being here.

Id also say that there are at least 28 288 GTOs in the USA, which means perhaps a couple more in fact.

 

I would say that as well. I only know of one US spec F50 that was 'destroyed' here and not rebuilt.

 

Yes. And I cant think of one that has left these shores (although some surely have).

How many 288's remain worldwide, does anybody have a feeling?

I was told of one that caught fire due to a faulty oil filter which leaked oil and the chassis was crushed (filter manufacturer paid up I was told)

 

Andrew, I think in that instance the claim was based on the fact that the car was totaled so its no surprise that the insurer wanted to ensure that nobody benefited from the remains. But I saw detailed images and in my opinion the car was so severely burnt that I dont think it was safely salvageable.

My thoughts are that almost all survive. The cars are so revered now that if any exist in a poor state they will certainly be restored.

 

I have never seen an F50 in person yet I am proud that one of the 272 288GTO's produced resides in Texas, I long to see that car again.

There is one in Las Vegas too !

 

There are at least two in Vegas.

 

Possibly one remains as I sold a nice one away from Vegas.

 

I remember about 6 years ago passing a red F50 in Vegas, a few miles off the strip...

 

F-Register has 53 F50's in the states, and one that has been exported to Japan. Also lists 38 288's as originally in the US.

We have at least 3 288's here in Ohio, and I've been fortunate enough to see one of them. And as weird as it may seem, the only F50 I've ever seen was one of the black ones. (2 in the US?)

 

As many as 75 288 GTOs have been in the USA at one point in time since 1984. But I think there are around 30 give or take here in the USA the last few years.
