It would just be very cool and different to have here. Even more of a wow factor. That was funny Vic.
RHD is odd, to drive in the USA. It was all backwards, when I drove a RHD. Anybody see the movie Top Secret, with Val Kilmer ? No doubt, with more time behind the wheel, it would probably not feel as bizzare.
Any idea on current market value for this 88 white/white just posted at gullwing? I'm tempted to spend my kids' $140k college fund on it. Don't need the cash for a decade so what's the worst that could happen? ;-) http://www.gullwingmotorcars.com/detail-1988-lamborghini-countach-used-9397089.html Image Unavailable, Please Login
Briefly discussed here. Not much discussion......seems most are not injected fans here. http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=163765&page=743 I say: could be a good buy.
Well, Mike Tyson paid about that: http://articles.latimes.com/1988/may/16 "Lamborghinis have been available only from individual importers for the past 12 years. Wilshire Maserati/Lotus/Lamborghini's first sale went to heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson, who bought a $140,500 Lamborghini Countach (white with white interior) after driving by the dealership. For just a little more, Tyson could have purchased a home in Los Angeles, where the median home price in March was $163,840."
I looked through my notes and apparently Tyson had 2 Countachs, a red one he kept at his New Jersey estate, and the 88.5 white/white car described above. I saw the white/white car myself in Beverly Hills in 1991, and my notes suggest it could be # 12314 (not confirmed). FWIW I am aware of another white/white 88.5 car which is 12284. I cannot come up with a single picture of Tyson with either of his Countachs, and this one of him with his Jaguar XJ220 is the only one I have of him with any of his many sports cars. Joe, it's because they "fixed it up" like they did with 12550 The seller of the car you mention has a habit of selling cars with stories and trying to hide the story. The good thing is I've been to Lambo of Houston when the red car you speak of was there all smashed up then again when 12550 was there. Perfect time to bring this up. I was waiting for a reason to bring up 12550 again. To the owner that had the thread removed, shame on you. Boo hoo you can't delete this. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hey Joe, next time I see him I'll ask him about his CT's and see if he has pictures. I bump into him all the time in Vegas. He used to live within walking distance to my Red Rock home in Vegas. That man loves my Vipers! =)
I wouldnt have paid 50k for that thing. So many wrongs with that car. First thing it's a FI 2V. Yuck.
Tyson's white/white 88.5 was for sale at Motorcars International in Missouri in spring 1989. Their full page ads from 1989 in the Dupont Registry show the car in a shot on their lot.
As for the above post, I could be wrong on the year but I'm pretty sure the info is right. It could have been 1990 or early 1991. I do believe it was "previously owned" by Tyson at the time. I remember because my car was parked next to it in the ad.
I see DK Engineering have sold the black QV (Rhd) this I believe was the same car sold last year by Cheshire Classics Cars.
No idea, I enquired about the car when Cheshire Classics had it and they were asking 140k GBP for it. Of course asking and actual sale price there could be a big difference.
http://www.dupontregistry.com/autos/Search/DRauSearchDetails.aspx?itemid=1289723 I think its back for another try, perhaps this time it will go.
Yes Emilio, so have I. But, I think what Bobby is saying is that you'd think a person asking the best part of $100,000 for a motorcar would bother to roll that thing out and make some detailed images to show clear presentation for an Ad in the public domain. That's Bobby's point I think.
I'm sorry if you have already discussed it but can you guys say what exactly is wrong with this car? Thanks.
