today i did testdrive with the f12 and i took my gto with me First, the improvement is like the 430 to the 458. The gear box is perfect, the acceleration is brutal the comfort is great, the whole car is perfect, the steering is very direct and fast similar to the the 458 but for me very synthetic, i prefer the gto i feel more car more sporty maybe the f12 is faster but is more like a perfect ps3 feeling car, superfast but i like the 599 GTO steering and edgy drive feeling much more sorry......
I am getting one soon. Would you say that I should not? the truth is I was leaning towards the Aventador. Which Swiss dealer did u test drive in Zurich? Thanks
the dealer is foitek, the car is great for me to perfect compare to the GTO, if I had no gto i would go with it because its so fast and very comfortable, but it does`t feel like a racecar, for daily use its perhaps the best car in the world and it goes like hell. I use my ferraris for special occasion at the weekend or some trips and then i prefer more a edgy car
Your dark color GTO appears a bit more subtle than your Rosso Corsa 16M with the black stripes! Don't you miss that Spider now? CH
IMO, the 458 and f12 mark a new era for Ferrari, in which their cars appeal to a different set of owners. I still haven't figured out - and I guess there really is no way of knowing, what percentage of existing owners will choose not to transiton over to the newer cars. It will only "get worse" from here on out - so does that mean these guys will never buy another new Ferrari?
I understand what you mean about the GTO, at a recent track day I had the good fortune of driving a beautiful rosso corsa GTO for a handful of laps. It was an experience never t forget. The sound on the downshifts was akin to thunder exploding, great communication back to the driver and you really feel so connected to the car. The faster you accelerate the quick the shifting became. At first you could feel the size of the car but it shrunk around you as you became accustome to it. Hang on to it, Ferrari may never produce something as wonderful as this again
Very nice to see your red 16M again, thank you! Yet another GTO owner who instead didn't keep his 458...that GTO is developing quite a following. CH
I thinbk different rather than superior. F12 is quicker, more power, more comfortable, faster round Fiorano etc.
Sadly this is what appears to be happening - Ferrari's cars are being designed to be more (dare I say it) mass market - appealing to more buyers in the East who may prefer them for different reasons. In the end Ferrari is a business like any other and their #1 priority is to maximise sales/profits/shareholder value. Balancing that with the staying close to the brand values is what all luxury brands are facing - but then again they all seem to be selling their soul to capitalise on the emerging markets in the East.
I am not sure why you point to the east as reason for Ferrari being more mass market. Emerging markets in general have disappointed in relation to expectations. And in the east its only the super rich that buy Ferrari (usually at 2-3x the price paid by the west) so they want something that is super exclusive not mass market. In addition people in the east are smaller so the cars are not being made larger and more comfortable for them.
From what I've seen, albeit only in the UK, unquestionably down. No value judgement implied, I haven't driven a GTO.
I think that this is an unfair assessment. The F12 is the successor of the 599 GTB and not of the GTO. Compared to the GTB, the is F12 is light years ahead. Surely the F12 GTO (or whatever it may be called) will make a similar leap compared to the 599 GTO.
A lot of modern cars are way too refined for me. I liked the Aventador a lot in that it still has a bit of brutal. Without the Brutal these new cars loose a lot of feel and also you drive them way too fast before you begin to feel their limits. IMHO I think this is why a lot of them crash in that when they go there is almost no warning and they can't be saved by most drivers. Ferrari's Scuderia/GTO versions are a lot better for those who like to DRIVE.
For a car with a supposedly limited production volume and many, many vocal proponents I'm surprised at the high number of GTO's for sale and the equally high rate of depreciation. Given the production numbers, one could reasonably argue there's a glut of GTO's on the market.
