I was washing my car the other day (308). I had my wife's car pulled out of the garage and the 308 was in the driveway next to it. I was in the garage and I hear two of the little kids in the neighborhood walking by. The one says to the other, "This guy has some nice cars." I'm walking out of the garage, smiling to myself knowing that he's caught the bug. And there he was looking longingly at my wife's turbo Miata!

Maybe he does know his cars.... ;)

    That is obvious.
Could you not say that about any Marque and driver?

Sure, fine. I'm stating the obvious - in response to a statement that was clearly ignorant, if not stupid.

A Corvette is faster that this Ferrari?

Maybe. Under some circumstances. Under others, maybe not.

And yes, you could say that about almost any marques. . . though a little old lady in a 458 might win against most drivers in a Yugo. ;)

I was driving my 360 spider home one evening, top down and a group of kids in a Mustang whiz by and yell something...couldn't make it out, but I could tell it was profane.

A couple of miles down the road, I pull up next to them at a red light. The kid driving the Mustang sticks his head out the window and says:

"I bet mine's faster" to which I respond:

"Yeah....nice FORD"!!! Stuck his head back in, rolled up the window.

I'm not an owner (yet), but I've heard a few good ones.

Off the top of my head, a friend of mine once told me "how cool it is to see my video game cars in real life" at a car show.

I also heard a mom reply to her kid after her kid was looking at an SLR 722, saying "oh, that's just a little Mercedes."

"So what, you just watch attention or something?"

"My ZO6/ZR1/... will eat this apart in the quarter mile."

"How much does that cost to fill up?"

Stranger: "Oh that's nice, my uncle is a real car guy, has one of those old Camaro's . ."
Me: "Oh really, sweet, I love some of those old body styles - his from the 60s?"
Stranger: "No, I think his is like a 93 or something."

    Awesome thread, really.

Not so much a Ferrari comment, but something I did to a guy that I actually felt a bit guilty for.

He had a 2010 Camaro that was completely modified to look like a Yenko, in terms of the striping. If you knew anything about Camaro's, you knew this guy wanted people to know what it was supposed to be.

I walked up to him and after saying how nice it was, I looked him in the eyes and said "I gotta get going, but anyway, nice Mustang."

The look on his face was amazing, seeing as how I'd just shocked him with my false stupidity.

You should have said "about $100,000, and the cool thing is that I don't have to return it!"

My wife's cousin came over the other day. I met him for the first time, he lives in California. He saw my car and loved it. While my wife was driving him back to the hotel where he was staying, he said to her "is he having a mid life crisis?". My wife just laughed and said that if it was, I've been in a crisis for the 20 Years that she knew me. Lol

no one knows what the GTC is, but it looks important so gets lots of stares. Gas station attendants (which we have in NJ) ask what it costs.

Best recent story wasn't the Ferrari. I took the Raceabout to work one afternoon, and my colleagues and staff all came outside to take a look. One of my partners who has a collection of more modern cars was joking about my 90 year old ride, "Bet that thing really attracts the chicks!" The last word was still in his mouth when a lovely blond 20-something jogged breathlessly into the (gated) parking lot. Striding right up to our small gathered crowd she held up her phone, "PLEASE! Someone snap a photo of me with this gorgeous car." The look on my partner's face was priceless he was literally slack-jawed...

Just out of high school I had an immaculate Porsche 924. My future sister in law said to me "my cousin had a Mercury Capri too".

In early 2002 my neighbor picked up his brand spanking new Yamaha R1 and we ended the ride home from the dealer at a local bike night. I was riding my 99 Ducati 748 and as we sat inside eating and he said to me "people are looking at the R1....with disgust because its blocking the view of your 748"

Last, my wife was talking to some other moms at the kids school about horses for whatever reason and she tells them "My husband says the girls can have horses when there is a "horse" in the garage."
Another mom-"my husband wants a Mustang too!"
    Wife-"no mine wants a Ferrari."

Sadly none of us have a horse.

Posted on another thread - and probably here too. An observer of my '84 308QV leans out the window of his car and says:

    "Is that a Fiero???"

As many of ya'll know, I have a '98 f355 spider that I bought 5 years old and have to rob convenience stores to keep serviced. I was on Music Row (16th ave in Nashville) when a limo came into the left lane (it's a one way) and the window rolled down. A very lovely and pleasantly hammered 20ish blonde stuck her head and a Gold Commemorative tequila bottle out and, grinning, hollered to me "WE"RE RICH TOO!!!" and sped on. Rarely laughed so hard. :)
