Wow, u guys are tough cookies. FYI, 328s are so revered in Sgp that they were being asked for almost S$200K or over S$200K for totally restored ones, there are only about 4 left anyway. That's about Rm500K  but good cars, new cabin, new paint, engine out etc.

Can't remember how much they're worth in UK now as I usually use their prices as guide since it's RHD.

The thing is, I rarely see any old classics in MY that are properly maintained or restored correctly, even the claimed restored leaves much to desire. I bought my 456 & paid top dollar for it's condition though. Since it was a royal family's car, it was maintained & when I picked it up, the carpet still had it's plastic on!

Not common, it's call GTT I think but mine has the full blown GTR engine & trans. The thing about Jap cars is that they're so easy to mod for cheap. Asked them to remove the LSD cos it's locking up everytime it turns a corner & terrible for normal driving. Good for drifting though.

Problem is Ipoh is 2hrs drive from my place & then back again so unless I have a night there, it would be tiring but I do enjoy small towns. Driving through kampongs is very therapeutic :) My parents were from a small town near Muar.

Wouldn't want a 355 anymore due to the maintenance even though the sound is probably the best. Don't think storing in Langkawi makes sense due to the journey (heard it's RM900/trip), keeping them in Nilai or nearby would be far better idea & if it's a trackcar, they don't even need to register it.

I don't know why, it's not just the 458 even Mp4 or Gallardos don't make me look twice anymore. Perhaps they're too common & I just feel that they lack some human touch. There's little emotion with modern car designs except for a few. When I see one, "it's nice, cool car but...." Also, perhaps it's my obsession with classics. When I see a Daytona, 275GTB, Miura, Countach, Gibli, DB6, E-type even Bertone wedges & especially pre-war Alfas, Bugattis, Deusenbergs, Delahaye, they make me cry! Well, almost :D

The modern cars are fast, too fast for normal use & too efficient that anyone can be a good driver. I'd rather drive my cars slower & enjoy every corners.

jon, interestingly, out of all your cars, the one I truly like the most is still the SV. It's just do utterly special. Every time I see it. Just never grow tired of looking at it. Nothing else on the street compares.

Actually, i got a feeling that most supercars with G1M plates we see on the road remain in the mainland for more than 90 days per year. I think most don't spent any days on Langkawi at all.
There got to be some 'loopholes'. Because lets face it, saving on tax and having it on mainland for 90 days are good, but most people will feel 90 days is too short. You could be exception because you are not in malaysia most of the time. :)

That's very true mate. I never was a Lambo person except for the diablo. Not the countaxh nor the mighty Miura. That was my dream car from my younger days... The diablo. Testarossa didn't do it for me, nor 348 nor 355.

Strangely, like you I'm no longer interested in modern exotics... All the new generation don't do anything for me at all. Gallardo, 458, f12, huayra, zonda, f2. Nothing hits me with interest anymore.

I still get peaked by an older 911 pre 993 (though i still love the 993 as well). Only classic Ferrari that I would love to own (partly because it is still relatively affordable) would be the fake Ferrari... The Dino. One day maybe... I wonder how many of those are in malaysia

G1M plated cars are not exclusively for Langkawi......they can be registered in both Langkawi OR any other part of the country.......its the only series where that was allowed....so most of the G1Ms you see on not so exotics (or even exotics) are/were prob not entitled to the tax exemptions.

Actually I do the same and hence I came out with that humble submission that 328s should not be so over priced!!! 308s-328s, and 348s are very similar in pricing at the moment....they are all around that 25kquid-40kquid......(of course there are some who over price or under price their cars) but that's around the market price in the UK. i guess in Malaysia and Singapore at the moment, it comes down to basic economics, as you said Jon, there are so few of them 328s around and prices have soared......

but if we look at that same argument in a slightly different light, 348s in Australia are around $100k which is around RM 310k!!! 308s are around $60-70k (some going as low as $50k) and 328s are around $90k-100k (there are total of 22 308s and 328s in the ausy market from one online trader as compared to 7 348s at the moment!)

ps: there is some good money to be made if someone would be able to export the 348s out of Malaysia to Australia!!! ;-)

I think someone up there got a little creative to help people with tax free expensive cars on this, well not that I'm complaining ^^

But it sure got us confused! So, we'll never know which G1M cars are tax free unless we look at their rd tax disc yeah?

Yep. Well, we face the same problem as our new cars are taxed about 200% in total or more when we add up the AP or Coe but when they become 10yrs old, they depreciate to about the same with overseas market so it's a game of who loses more to taxes. Then it's down to which car that's rarer and more sought after by then and how much premium we're willing to pay for it.

An added benefit is that we can import cars over 35yrs for Sgp & 25? For MY but you guys get to use it daily with reduced tax! While we suck thumb with a limited 45days usage :( So, it does kill the value of once rare cars. Imagine importing a 30yrs old 458 @ rm250k by our kids :D

With or without the tax exempt scheme of G1M plate, you have to admit exotics are getting much and much affordable now with the reconds coming in. So that's good news for all :)

I know not all G1M are from langkawi. I also know G1M plates can be used on any cars and G1M doesn't mean its tax free.
    Sorry for the misunderstanding.
I was just directing my response to 'most' supercars on the road with G1M plates. I am under the assumption that they chose G1M is because the plate 'can' give them tax benefits, so why not go with it.

I agree. They even make 430s look more reachable to the general public. And i dont really care if Ferraris or Lambos are getting more common on our roads. It is owning one that really matters! :)

i suppose so......hahaha....but then again, the road tax disk "can" also get "confusing".....when there are loopholes.....exploit it.....and it ain't illegal the last i checked, or is it?!!?!! just go up to a Bentley or a 599 or most 5L-6L cars........which has a Wilayah plate or any other non Langkawi plate.......the chances are it would state RM50.00 on the disk!!!

Must admit that 355s are very attractive & mags agree that it could be the future Dino but it's the maintenance that puts me off & lack of expertise around. Saw a few Berlinettas lately for mid 200-350s.

The Zonda F is my dream car but price @ £1mil+/- is way beyond me & even if I can afford it, it'll be too precious to be driven so sometimes dream is best left to it.

Aventador will become cheap in few years time, do you guys know they built over 10k by now, that's just first year of production! The Murcielago took ten years to reach 4000+ in all variants.

I also find the design of Aventador to be too busy, too many break lines and again too much electronics interfering with the driver connection. Well, I've never driven one :p but I call it the poor man's HyperCar cos for what it has, it's cheap compared to those ;)

Yeah mate. Nothing like a pure early 911, it's what I lust as well but the Dino is a surprising choice but given it's sexy body maybe it does. Heard there were 4 official imported Dinos in Malaysia but might be more with collectors importing them.
