Yes all 288GTOs are sexy, just curious about this one. The link. So I see you can't post links here. Here's where I found it. Supercars dot net Gallery Image From Ferrari's 60th Concorso d'Eleganza
To me it looks like a 308 that has been modified. The exhaust is obviously changed. It looks like the car has been lowered from the normal 288 settings. The front fender flare seems off, but it may be the photograph. If it is a modification, it is a very good one. Everything else seems correct (except wheels). The Mirrors are correct.
Look genuine to me. Gearbox, curves... I am sure I have sen it plenty of times on here before because I seem to remember the red wheels.
It would be highly modified as the gear box is for a longitudinal engine, and not traverse like the 308.
Yep, do we know of any real advantages to the F40 turbo system that would make some one replicate it on a 288GTO?
I did notice the gearbox and thought that it might be reconfigured. My thinking was that the car was modified, including the engine bay. Perhaps that does not make much sense, now that I think about it. The gearbox does look genuine.
It is a genuine 288 GTO, modified, and registered VS.99.U. It was seen in attendance at the 25th Anniversario of the 288 GTO in Barcelona in 2009. The car has been signed by several Formula 1 race drivers, including Michael Schumacher, as you can see on the front bodywork above the bumper. Can't say if the mods help or hurt but amongst half-a-dozen GTOs circulating, this was the only car that 'lost' it... Image Unavailable, Please Login
if you have more than 14 cars, and buy and sell a sufficient number per year, you can qualify as a 'garage' and have these U plates.
Considering the layout of the standard GTO's engine and the amount of room aft of it one can see its not difficult to re-route the exhaust pipes. This car seems to be driven on the road and I cant speak to its muffling, or lack thereof! Image Unavailable, Please Login
