The SV at Gooding claimed to have new ones. I did not check the date codes to verify, but they looked great. Perhaps ony available with Purchase of a new car, lol!
I'm a bit confused.. Is this tire you're referring to the one (CN72 205x15) that was discussed a week or 2 ago that is currently available from Classic tire or another Pirelli? The link provided by Joe describes this tire as a CN 12.
Thanks Joe, What I was wanting to know is if this CN12; as advertised by that particular Pirelli add, is a different tire than the 205 that was discussed recently and currently available?? If so what is status on that tire; the CN12? thanks
Just did a wide search for Pirelli CN12's. Nothing came up reguarding availability of that tire other than the original link to the Pirelli web site.
HI: DON'T WAST YOUR TIME , CALL THE PIRELLI DISTRIBUTOR, THEY ARE VERY HELPFUL IN LOCATING TIRES FOR YOU. THAT'S HOW I GOT (6)P4000 FOR MY MIURA NO LONGER AVAILABLE TIRES 1-800-747-3554 PIRELLI USA
I'm looking for the current paintcode for "Arancio" as used for Miura. I know the Lambo period reference or PPG paintcode, but this is no help for the paintshop, what I need is the formula to be used now a days !!! Someone can help ?
Hello All, I've just got today some information from my official Lamborghini dealer in france about the new production of Tires for the LM002 and the Miura by the Factory via Pirelli factory in their Turkey plant. The following tires are currently available from your official Lamborghini dealer at the following conditions and prices (Data for the French Market - but I imagine very similar for other Countries): 1) LM002 : 1x 345/60/15 Pirelli Scorpion at 3.447 Euro each - incl VAT or 5x 345/60/15 Pirelli Scorpion set at 12.200 Euros incl VAT 2) Miura Tires only available as sets of 4 tires : - 4 x 215/70VR15 CN12 = 4.018 Euros incl VAT (for your P400 or P400S) - 2x 215/70VR15 CN12 + 2x 255/60VR15 CN12 = 6.028 Euros incl VAT (for your P400SV...) All these tires are currently available - just a matter of $$$ - so, you just have to put an order from your Official Cherished lamborghini Dealer.
Pretty funny prices. They must be marking them according to increases in value of the cars. The best part of $8,000 for a set of tires (almost $2,000 per tire) for a Miura SV. I know the Pirelli factory in Turkey has been producing tires there since 1962, and I bet that the wholesale cost is a very small fraction of these numbers.
(Cough, cough, cough). $5300 american dollars for a set of four CN12's ? Seriously? Who's going to buy those for that kind of money; it's robbery. Someone needs to find a contact in the factory in Turkey and find a way to, ahh, well, get a discount.
wow, serious prices... I have 4 NOS rear tyres in perfect condition and one set of reartyres with 70% thread, i was looking for NOS fronts but never found them.. so now i finally can get a set of four fronts so i will have two full sets, i think i will do this and sell one full set, if anybody is interested just send me a pm. I have paid 2250 euro's and 3000 euro's for the two sets of NOS reartyres but i will sell a full set (incl the NOS fronts) for 3500 euro's (situation changed now they produce them brand new..). The rears are from 1978, last year they have produced i have been told. There is no single crack in them, where always wrapped in plastic and stored perfect in dark place (i know the guy where i bought them from). The used rear set i will sell for 500 but who wants secondhands tyres on a SV while you can have new ones
Whilst very slightly off topic it is worth reading last months Evo magazine (November) as Harry Metcalfe discovered his new P Zero's for his Countach did not quite behave the way he expected. This was largely due to the fact that although the tread pattern was correct a change to a more modern compound means the tyre tread blocks move around a lot more, resulting in lost steering feel.
Indeed I'd love to hear some driving reports with the "new" CN12s as tread pattern is a bit different. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I received your book on 10-15-2012 and I'm 1/4 of the way through it. Awesome book, love the photos as well as the exploded view of the engine, the wiring diagram not to mention the original drawings. The sad part is that I will finish it so I guess I'll have to start from the beginning.
some may have alrady seen this, but for those that haven't (like me) FB kidston page detailing restoration of #5110 ...some great work & photos there https://www.facebook.com/pages/Kidston/131382396919675?ref=stream
The last time I am aware of extensive refurbishment was in 1991 at Bill De Carr's shop in Bellflower, California, where it received repairs after its front-end accident. As far as items that were not faithful to its original build, the rivets were not painted over as was the case originally, a minor item, but visually fairly obvious. In later times, circa 1997, a non-original plaque was made up & added, declaring a production status that is proven to not be correct.
Joe, I know what you said about how hard it is to put out a book and I do understand. The last thing you need is another request but a book detailing a complete restoration from barn find to concours would be incredible, whether Miura or Countach. Has this ever been done?
I haven't researched this, but I did dedicate a chapter in he Miura book to 4884 from discovery to restoration.
