Talk about an amazing week ahead. I am off to Maranello to pick up my Spider and drive back through all the Swiss Passes and will also be speccing my F12 at the Atelier whilst at the factory.

I am debating listening to David James who, in his posts, says having seen the car which I have not, that it looks best in lighter metallics which would make it my third grey F car as grey would be my preference. But I feel a change is needed and thinking of a dark Blue. However, reading posts, apparently the shape also needs a metallic and I cannot see a metallic dark blue, just Pozzi, which I love but will the lines be lost as it is flat?

Definitely decided on a light interior, probably Cuoio as it seems to need it.

    Any thoughts and advice please.

I wouldn't set on dark colours as the range is somewhat smaller, and well, I prefer lighter myself. I agree dark and non metallic on top of it makes it loose some of the lines.

Regarding dark blues you have Blu Scozia which I think is not metallic but it's a beautiful shade, a tad lighter than Pozzi, I think. Then other old blues as Swaters in the Historic range. I think Swaters was the typical blue of the 456 and was not as light as shown today in the configurator, so might be an option. Anyway at the atelier I'm sure you can find a metallic blue that suits you.

Tour de France blue. Dark, but not as dark as Pozzi, and yet metallic to show off the lines.

Of course, I forgot to mention good old TdF. Not very dark but maybe even darker than Swaters which I was suggesting.

Blu NART and Blu Le Mans are also darker metallic blues that are available in the Historic colours range. Azzurro Monaco is a much lighter blue that may show off the styling.

Not as far as I can tell from the web. All seems quite mild according to the weather reports. Fingers crossed.

Do you know this for a fact as clearly would have an influence!

Not for a fact, but I'd check webcams if you can......it's very high altitude and are rarely open past September. Some of the main ones have fixed seasons.

If you get the chance, go via Turino rather than up via Milano up through Como.....head out west of Turino for about an hour and take the D902 north west up through Val d' Isere to Seez. It's long, fast and deserted.....you'll get your chance to get a feel for the car. From there take the D1090 north east all the way to Chamonix Mont Blanc......and it's a decent run home from there.

You'll thank me.......exquisite roads that'll leave you speechless.

Plenty of webcams in Val too, so you can make sure it's snow free and traffic is flowing before you leave.

I'm very, very envious if you take this route, it's truly the stuff of lifetime memories......and it's super easy to follow on a decent TomTom.

Best of luck, PM me if you want micro-details.

I did the same trip last year.....and ended up doing a huge loop. It's by far the more interesting route. PM me your cell if you want a chat, I'm in London too.

If it doesn't have to be an official Ferrari color I would go in a different direction.
Maserati Blu Mediterraneo with a black or as an alternative dark blue interior with silver metal trim (even that 'engine turned aluminum' style) rather than carbon fiber. Matching metal design also for the large interior door trim piece. One advantage of a dark color interior is it can all be the same color. Not like a cuoio interior with a black dash and steering wheel which starts to appear 'busy'.
Silver painted calipers and the carbon Scuderia fender shield instead of yellow. Also silver wheels and not the gray painted style. For the final contrast the sport sills in gray or black color like the rear bumper lower valance panel. When the sport sills are painted in the body color it hides one of the neatest design features on the F12.

Traveller - you'll see a lot of colours at the factory as there are quite a few finished ones parked around plus a lot on the assembly line. I like the light metallics and not the plain colours and the Atelier guy had the same view. But just our opinion. I also like the rosso berlinetta and the matte aluminium is wicked. The only problem with the mate is you have to be careful how you clean it apparently as that could affect the finish.

I did the Stelvio Pass yesterday driving from Munich->Innsbruck->Como and it's clear and dry both sides.. in the panorama shot the road is in the valley in the foreground.

The weather next week is due to change according to forecasts but as you can see there's nothing at all on the roads as we speak..

Man I so hate black as a colour. Why not get really, really dark blue or really, really dark green, etc. Black is just nothing.

Each to their own but so much better if there is a hint of something in the colour IMO.

Yes, I've seen it in the flesh. The colour is of course "exclusive" because it's rare to see it on a Ferrari but I have to admit it's not my cup of tea: you can't see the shapes of aerdynamic parts (i.e aerobridge). But it's classy.

If you would admire all his shapes you should opt for a metallic color.

Tempting. Looks like not much traffic-was it very early in the morning?
