Yes it was, along with some 89 Anniversary cars. Every manufacturer builds cars prior to model year. Why they gave this blue car a 89 vin does not make sense to me. Seems like they should have started the 89 vins with the Anniversary.
Do you think the kit at 1:48 is obvious? [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HBwdDMM9hmA[/ame] Do you think the molded in front flares give it away? Or the tall air scoops? Or the wheels? Or the exhaust? Or the postion of the exhaust? Or the sound? Or the.........
Yes, that would be like putting side-skirts on a pre-88.5 car to make it look as though it is an 88.5 car. Or using Leatherique to restore the entire interior of a car. Makes no sense, but we can see why its done.
I've seen Bianco Perlato (pearl white) LP500 S and QV's, but none earlier. To those in the know: Do you know of any pre-LP500 S with this color? It's absolutely stunning in the wild and impossibly hard to capture on photos.
I really do think that my former LP500S 12562 painted by the works in February 1983 was the first Countach painted that color by the factory. Of course I have no absolute proof and I would love to learn if there is an earlier car so liveried. The works wanted a special color for the car they were sending to the Paris Motor Show (as lore goes). In that period, 1120200 (LP400 converted to LP400S) was painted pearl white by a privateer, and Kremer painted an LP400S pearl white post-production too, FWIW. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Why do you think a handful of 88.5 cars received 89 vin numbers ? I was told once that come Aug first every car built got a vin for the next model year and there were still a few 88.5 cars still to be built.
Not "next" but rather current. International VIN standards define the VIN Model Year as August 1st to July 31st. -mick
Who told you that? That was erroneous information as Mick has already explained, not for the next model year but for the current one. What is the proof you possess that you can share with us that some 88.5 cars received a 89 VIN? Just curious what your source of documentation is.
Wouldn't it be simpler to avoid deductive reasoning and speculation and simply reason that 1990 Anniversarios exist simply because they were built in 1990?
Thanks for the info! It's one my favorite colors on a Countach, especially after seeing a stunning pearl white QV in 2002.
The Bleu Miura car is clearly not an Anniversary car yet it has a 1989 vin number and its not the only one.
There was a 1983 Countach for sale in 1989/90 that was White Pearl with Red interior. The photo of the car in the ad had white wheels, flag mirrors, and side skirts. Of course that photo could have been a file photo and not a photo of the actual car for sale.
I need one page/drawing in the Quattrovalvole Parts Manual: It is Gruppo 12, TAV 2, including the parts number page. Anyone have that easily available? Thanks!
Yes that would be a very simple way of looking at it, and it would also be incorrect ! My friend just happens to own ZA9CA05A7LLA12735 and that car is a 1990 Anniversary that was built in JULY of 1989. For your information joe, they never built a Countach in calendar year 1990. Where do you get your information from, why would you post such inaccurate information on this web site ? Please try not to use such deductive reasoning and speculation when posting.
I'm thinking you might be wrong on that. Check the photo below from a 25th Anni Countach with a production date of April 1990... Image Unavailable, Please Login
The last 25th was made around the 20th of June or July 1990, can't exactly remember the date. Have a picture of it somewhere when at the factory with the workers around the car.
Of course, here comes the village idiot again. If you were anything other than a terminal glutton for punishment of the most moronic kind, you wouldn't be back on here. And if you had even an ounce of integrity and were anything more than a coward who cant afford a subscription, you would fill out your profile & pony up a few bucks for a subscription. Shall I start a list of Countachs actually built in the calender year of 1990, or shall I leave it to others? Even the most casual Countach observer knows that some Countachs were built in 1990, and to say they never were built in 1990 is simply to come on here and make an utter fool of yourself. But, that is your stock-in-trade, your identifying persona, the way in which you can be instantly recognized. Hows that working out for you? You have zero credibility any place you pop up. Why anyone would take you seriously or do business with you, beats me. Pay attention & learn something on this thread: Countachs were built in 1990. I was there at Sant Agata and saw some of them coming down the line. I have a friend who waited patiently for a car he ordered in Feb 1990 to be delivered in May 1990. He still has it. I was there when he took delivery. And here is a pic of a few cars built in the spring of 1990. Image Unavailable, Please Login
And they made more than a handful USA cars, actually constructed in 1990. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thank you very much Glen. I do not know of another model of automobile anywhere in the world that draws out idiots the way the Countach does.
