Ferrari seriously damaged in early-morning crash into woods

ALPHARETTA, Ga. —

Webb Bridge Road was closed for part of Friday morning after a Ferrari crashed into the woods off the road.

Police said the 18-year-old driver, Akshay Panducherry, and his 21-year-old passenger, Harshavardhan Patlolla, were able to crawl out of the car.

Both men were airlifted to Grady Memorial Hospital with serious burns.

Definately a 430; got a look at the front end on Fox 5 this morning.

 

I'm willing to bet that the parents were out of town or something and did not "let" the kid take the car out for a joy ride at 4am. if they did they should have just given him a loaded gun instead. it would have been safer.

 

the red 430 was given as a gift last week from the father to his 18 year old son. A big mistake the father will no doubt regret for the rest of his life.

I think prayer as mentioned above is what's needed here not "woulda coulda shoulda", as the family may see this thread at some point in time. Let's hope for recovery, and pray for the family.

 

Hey guys, I ran across these boys in this 430 on 400 Northbound right after I left Italian Car Day a week ago. I was in my 308 on 400 and they came up on my quickly, we gave each other thumbs up and they took off like I was standing still. I've got photos of the guys and the car before all the crash damage.

I was so very afraid of that....burns are a hazard of my industry.

Yes u are right. Normally the chance of living is the percent burned less 100 percent. The son had a 20% chance. Really bad. I feel sorry for the family.

 

Very sad to hear this latest update, just tragic.

 

Might sound a bit cold, but very glad he did not take any bystanders with him. There are places to "go fast" and the streets are not one of them. Clearly he did not have the maturity that was as worthy as the vehicle he abused. Incidents like this give all who drive exotics a bad name. Kid had more money than brains and Dad will be regreting his gift to his son the rest of his life. Tragic? If that is defined by pure stupidity then yes, very. If the accident was caused by another driver and shortened the lives of the teenager, THAT would be a true tragidy, but this was a single car accident caused by the willingness of the driver to allow his immatureity and iresponsability to take control of his undeveloped judgement, that is a wasted life. He was his own victim, sadly, his passenger, if he survives will be scarred for the rest of his life and there is no way the father of the driver can undo that. Makes one wonder about the life values that the father taught the son during his 18 years on Earth.

Chill just a little but, it's why they are called "accidents"...

The passenger IS family....cousin to the driver.
He still has his own fight to recover...

There's no 'bystanders" in a curve in the woods at 4AM...unless there's a meteor shower or something....I was out in the woods at 4AM, that morning.

 

He swerved, to miss a pelican......

 

And so would you if it was your young son lying in the hospital fighting for his life.

They look like they were having fun, the whole incident is just a terrible shame.
I am 48 years old, thirty years ago I was Hell on Wheels, I am lucky I did not hurt anyone.

I am almost 63 years old. When I was 15 I wanted a 427 Cobra. I went with my dad as he shopped for a new station wagon. When we went into JD Ball Ford in Miami (I grew up in Miami Beach), there was a brand new Cobra on the floor. I tried to talk dad into getting that car. Instead of the station wagon. I had a learner's permit - what do you want? Hey, what could go wrong? He got his station wagon. If he had purchased the Cobra, I am sure I would have wrapped his "investment" around a telephone pole on Collins Avenue.

No doubt, giving an 18 year old a Ferrari is incredibly stupid. Dads have to make decisions. This 18 year old's dad will think about this one forever.

And yes, after I was able to get my hands on a fast sports car I drove it too fast. Just fortunate that nothing like this happened to me. This dad, this 18 year old and this passenger were not so fortunate. I guess the fact that I acted like this kid a long time ago makes me have some sympathy for him and his dad.

ps - I told my father at the time that I would get one of those cars someday. As the value of 427 Cobras increased and skyrocketed, I kidded him the rest of his life about how great an investment he passed up by not buying the car. They did in fact get too expensive for me to buy. So I bought (and still own) a Superformance Cobra. I regret my dad died before I was able to give him a ride in it.
