It's ok given normal precautions. Tourist areas are fine with plenty of foreigners. Hotels like the Marriott, Interncont, W are located in the nicer part of town with walking distance bars / restaurants. Cab service requested by phone or from taxi base is the way to go (equivalent to a yellow cab company). Taxis are cheap, you can even have a car arranged to take and pick you up.

You shouldn't have problem for a potential Mexico GP. In recent years we've had cart and nascar races with no issues.
I personally am more hesitant about Sao Paulo and people go to the GP without even asking.

    Tks again.

Yes, I went to the Brazilian GP and it was scary to say the least. Worst GP ever.

That's a shame; considering I'm assuming you're not one of those fools that walks into dodgy areas like some spastics do...As I'd love to go to the Brazilian GP (and stay for a few weeks in the north of brazil...).

Since I can't find the 2012 drivers market thread, I'll put my thoughts here.

Lotus still hasn't signed Grosjean for 2013. Whilst he is a fast driver (he certainly qualifies well), we can all agree he's way to prone to first lap incidents, having cost the team buckets full of points and potentially millions from losing 3rd (and possibly 2nd) in the constructors title. Once he gets through the first couple of laps he seems to do ok (albeit his race pace is slower than Raikkonen).

Lotus have a couple of options:

    Kobayashi
    Di Resta
Kovalainen (the team might need another pay driver)
Razia (a risk, but GP2 champion and drove brilliant in GP2 this season)
    Retain Grosjean

Kovalainen has done well in an underperforming car all season, he's got previous experience with the Lotus team (formally Renault of course), outscoring seasoned teammate Fisichella. Another fin and I believe he and Kimi get on well.

I think it will be a travesty if Kobayashi doesn't find a seat next season.

The Interlagos circuit is built squarely in the middle of slums.

When I went there I had a driver who took me from the hotel to the track and who would pick me up after the race.

As he dropped me in front of the stadium, there were armed guards with automatic rifles guarding every entrance. Obviously they are there for a reason. Never seen that anywhere else.

As I left my driver was a bit late and so I was walking down the street from the track. Immediately folks (think zombies) came out of nowhere walking towards me. Just in time my driver arrived, I hopped in and he sped off.
Every year teams and drivers "loose" stuff to the locals. That says about it all.

Absolutely! I think he is a very much loved driver by a wide range of fans!
Damn shame. I think I'll still go the though, but will also opt with a driver. When I lived in Rwanda I constantly saw guards etc with loaded and mostly with the safety of AK47s and shotguns. Not the most comforting thing since I knew how they got trained and achieved their license (apply at the police college and there you go...play with this...).My best friends' father went in 2002 I believe, I'll ask him how he dealt with it (do they do helicopter transfers?). Button's story from last year or the year before was quite scary.

I doubt there are heli transfers, but I'm not sure. After all heli taxis are common in South America.

IMHO a driver from the hotel will do.

Don't forget to visit Senna's grave at Morumbi cemetary.
