Glad someone picked up F1. Speeds coverage was not bad but they hardly show re-runs or post race stuff.

I can give a hell about anything else on Speed. Im watching a horrible show on this channel right now called 101 Cars You Must Drive. This show makes me hate Speed with a passion aside from all that Pinks and Hot Rod crap they show.

NBC has started running F1 promos.
First one I saw was on Leno last night.

+1. I like the F1 coverage but the rest of their programming is crap.

That any of the races might not be live (on tv, not web) says a lot about NBC's commitment.

I think who's on the announce crew will tell us how savvy the network is. Or isn't.

I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt at this point.

Why they can't (and why Fox hasn't) show it live on the subsidiary cable channel and then rebroadcast it in prime time on the mother network is beyond me.

I really hope the races, if nothing else, are live. I was just reading that they plan on showing all three practice sessions as well so maybe there is hope that NBC isn't going to just ignore F1.

    My 02c;

At this stage, I'm really optimistic...... *If* they do it right (ala Sky in the UK) it could work well.

You gotta pay extra? So be it IMO.

    Cheers,
    Ian

    Dear Dr Pangloss,

As the old joke goes "with all this Horse Shiet, there's got to be a pony somewhere".

i just find it hard to believe any mainstream network is going to spend a dime to pander to such a small demographic.
    i smell a major clusterfk.

agreed, however with a USGP now in the mix the local interest may go up. certainly nbc can even play a part in making that happen, and in that aspect they may prove better than SPEED.

Do you think they'll show the ricky bobby movie before the races?

Who does the captioning for Speed?

They catch about one in three comments, and usually only fragments of those, and what they do get, they usually get wrong.

During India P2, the cameras showed a pit board, and the announcer commented: From the aussie flag, you can see that's Mark Webber's.
The closed caption for that comment: That's mark web ears.
That's typical of the captions during Speed's F1 coverage.

I'd think it's the world's worst voice recognition software, except that the summarizing and frequent dyslexic spelling indicates that it's being done by a human.
And, apparently, a human that doesn't know anything about racing.

(I leave the captioning on, because I can't understand the Brit accents on the BBC shows, lately. And it sounds like the film actors are mumbling, too.)
(It may be time for me to look into getting a hearing aid.)
(Although the captioning seems to have trouble with Brit accents, too. On one episode of Wheeler Dealers, the caption was about how a car needed "tied in up" (tidying up).)

I've watched them all and they're decent.

Wait until you hear him on his GP3 broadcasts for SKY. *shudder*

And I really like him as SPEED's pit man, so...

We should at least give 'em a fair chance. They're not complete fools after all - They outbid Speed (probably not hard!) so at least they want the rights. Hopefully, as I said before, they'll have a traveling crew at all the races etc.

    Cheers,
    Ian

Hey, at least you get GP3 Broadcasts! We only get GP2 right before the F1 race. The only GP3 we got coverage was Connor Daly's crash at Monaco.
