Good to see a double header at Road America. The WEC race should be held at Sebring not Austin. The Europeans and Americans are not using their brains again. The people involved in Austin spent money like drunken sailors to get the F1 race. In a few years they will be wondering why they are bleeding so much money...aka the Indy F1 race, but even worse as they started from scratch. It will not turn out well. The US race fans can use them for a few F1 races like we did at Indy
During the webcast of Petit Le Mans, they interviewed the ALMS CEO Atherton, and it looks like they have some live tv deals for 2013, between ABC, ESPN2, and Fox Sports. Also regarding Austin, they're apparently planning to make it a multi use facility, which makes sense. Concerts, sporting events, etc. http://jalopnik.com/5953467/who-needs-racing-at-austins-f1-track-when-you-have-boxing-tennis-and-volleyball
Both Sebring and the Petit have been listed as being live on Fox, which is good news. I believe that 4 or so of the other races will be shown live as well. It's not perfect, but it's better than this year was!
I have a feeling a couple of German car manufacturers didn't like their factory drivers being in America during the N24
ALMS's lame duck year just got lamer: no Flying Lizard RSRs in 2013 http://www.lizardms.com/news/releases/2012/oct-26.html http://www.sportssystems.com/novell/efx/email/filehost/AD176.pdf
Looking forward to actually getting to see some of the races on tv next year. Glad they will be back in Bmore. Hopefully we can take care of those pesky train tracks this time!
Anyone know the reason for dropping MidOhio? That is one of the most spectator friendly circuits in North America.
They simply couldn't agree on a date. The ALMS have a limited number of race dates. Mid Ohio management has said that they hope to return in 2014 as both parties wanted a race there.
The date for Road America is the weekend after the FCA Annual Meet. Maybe some of the 458 teams will arrive a little early. Jeff
wow, Ferrari national meet, ALMS and GrandAm in one week at RA. I might be in Wisconsin that week when is the OshKosh fly-in? edit: holy crap, OshKosh is the same week as the FCA meet! done.
