  1. He should (have!) put these cars in a storage unit or inside somewhere. The elements really destroy early Italian cars. The upside is to sit on them (but not at 50k), then sell them to the next dreamer. I'm a sucker at heart for old cool cars. I have to remind myself that one can negotiate faster than renovate.

The Espada I kick myself over was the Series 2 orange with green (claimed to be a different color)interior one that was on ebay a few years ago.

This stuff goes up and it can also go down. Way down. Think 1989 vs 1992. My Bora went from over $100K (that's in 1990 dollars!) to maybe $35K in a very short amount of time. It still hasn't recovered. No one wanted cars as crummy as these two Espadas after that. Espadas are really cool cars in my book but they have as yet to prove that they're investment grade. They've just gone up a bit in the last few years like a lot of everything else. Daytonas dropped like hell as well though they are doing much better now. Look at Boxers!

The condition was really great but that combo would make me vomit. Orange is good on a Miura but not my choice for an Espada.

The light green metallic one that had such a hard time selling on here and eventually went for 40K looked like a very nice car to me. It sold too cheap IMHO. It might draw $65K now though. After the election? Only God knows.

I'm still shock at that 40k green one. I think that was Urraco8's car. Wanted in the 60's. Restored and excellent almost perfect.
The best offer he got was 40k....and he took it. No one else wanted it, weird.

I think you already know the answer, Countach cars will be a much better choice for fixing.

Two years ago. That number has already been exceed recently for a nice car but probably not quite as nice as that one. Go back and look at the pictures it's in this thread. They're not getting cheaper yet and they haven't flattened out. Next year ????

    Hi,

I have a question because of the rear window grill of S1 cars!
I saw pictures of S1 cars with and without rear window grill!
Did all S1 cars delivered with the rear grill?Or has later S1 cars no grill from the factory?

    Best Regards

    Leo

  10. Maybe. The entry price is a good bit higher. I like seeing all of them fixed up so it's all good. It's easy to get upside down though. The flip side is you know what you have, and can upgrade it along the way. Just stay as far away from rust as you can. I spent a good bit of time today working an a 70 Mini's rust issues. That is one nasty job.

Just a few had grills. The way it was installed was such a pain in the arse that cleaning was an issue.

It's discussed earlier in this thread.

Only the approx. first 55 units (body numbers 750*0001 till 750*0055) had these slats. Some of these cars were later converted by the factory or by owners.

The S1 are the first 186 units with body numbers from 750*0001 till 750*0186 , most of them with the hexagonal dash.

    Thank you for the information.

But the red S1 in bringatrailer has #7343?!
    I thought that S1 has 7001-7186?
But i think because of the dashboard it is a S1 car...

Every Espada received a body number starting with 750*… This number is engraved on the right fender dome inside the engine compartment. Not even sure if the number of 186 S1 is correct, it should be somewhere between 176 and 186 units. The sequence of the body numbers is roughly the same as the sequence for the chassis number but not 100%.

Not every number after 7000 was used as a chassis number. Every third number was used as a chassis number f.e. #7003, #7006, #7009, #7012, … with some exceptions on this. Every car with a chassis below #7500 is an S1. A car with a chassis number above #7600 is an S2 or later. For the others I make my conclusion based on the dashboard.

I know that Lamborghini built Espada SII & SIII cars with US-specs!
But i have never seen SI cars with US-specs or sidemarkers..
My question is, did Lamborghini built S1 cars with US-specs? If yes what are different to the EU-specs?

The red S1 car from bringatrailer has a kmh speedo,so it could be a EU-specs car?!

My 71 S2 which was delivered by Bob Estes has zero USA spec equipment on it and it was delivered that way. It has no rear side markers and only the small round oneson the front.

So ... hard to imagine an S1 was delivered new with any USA equipment on it. Possibly a later imported car got converted though.

The talk over on VLG was that it was owned by previously by someone on there. heir comments were cryptic and seemed ver inside baseball like?

I don't think it was restored per say. I think he cleaned it up really well and it presented as a very nice original. I have no idea how it was mechanically though.

    I wonder where it went?

BTW, Robert Huber has built one of these grills for a clients S1 and it's really the cat's meow. Much better than the original because it mounts and removes with spring loaded clips so cleaning is a breeze.

"I have tried to join the Vintage Lambo Group several times, but each time it refuses to accept Lamborghini's first name as Ferruccio." ???

Maybe you could take another crack at explaining this. I'm one of the moderators over on VLG. Send me a PM or better yet an email about this if you'd like. I don't understand your post though. I don't know who owns 8578. I don't keep track of such things. If I can help with your VLG issues let me know.

Last trace, I've for #8578 is in 2009 when it was in a paint shop and owned by someone from Texas. I believe the owner is on VLG.
