I am 100% agreement with you on that, in fact, I believe that Alonso is the best driver, I just think that Vettel seems like just a very likeable guy and at his age, he will continue to just get better.
The last 4 races have been SO boring. It will be a sad end to an entertaining year if Vettel wins the last 7. Alonso drove the damn wheels off the car to finish 2nd.
DJ, I still pray Alonso wins it, as I believe he is the best driver with the car he has been given to him, no doubt about that.
Agreed. Sometimes he harbor a distrust for the easily likeable. For those to whom good things come easily. It's not fair but it is human nature.
He certainly maximizes the situations given to him. There is still a lot of racing left but it's going to take some upgrades and a little luck to topple Vettel. Supposedly (I have reservations considering how we hear this every race) Ferrari have a bigger upgrade coming, but it's not like Red Bull will be sitting on their thumbs. Hopefully I'll have power to watch Abu Dhabi but Hurricane Sandy might have other ideas
yes, when he is behind his character changes and his metronome swings towards Hamilton instead of Michael
very well thanks Tony, all the best to you as well .... I see the F1 section is still the same, some knowledgable, some knownothing, somegoogle .... I just like being one of the grumpy old men in the balcony from the muppets
I miss responding to his posts, I took my cars to a car show today, and the guy next to me was from Australia, so we basically spoke about cars and racing the entire time and I am sure some of the people there could not get a word in edge wise. LOL
Grosjean needs to cause Vittel to DNF. Only fair he takes out a Red Bull car; seems he's done it to everyone else, including of course Alonso at Spa.
wait until you meet Pap and me, the old saying about being able to talk underwater with a mouth full of marbles comes to mind BTW we only export our criminals these days so watch out
well if you look at yesterday's start you will see Felipe missed a golden opportunity to take out all of Alonso's opposition "if" his accelerator got stuck wide open
more than welcome !! Just remember that Australia is VERY expensive now and the USD is worth less than our "worthless" AUD
I've admiring all the new-ey refinements on the RB car at India. Only car I've seen that has... Not sure if Newey had a hand in this bit, but look at Vettel's helmet spoiler...I haven't seen anything lilt that anywhere else on the grid hehe: http://www.formula1.com/wi/gi/597x478/UQQ2/sutton/2012/d12ind2282.jpg
In the beginning of the season the new rules and quirky tires seemed to increase the number of contenders. Now that's passed and RB is back were they were at the end of last season. Was all the artifice and all the gimmicks worth the trouble if the result is the same?
Innovators will always find a way to get ahead of the crowd. It just increased the challenge. It's not over yet though...things could happen but RBR is hitting its stride right now.
The best designers and engineers will cope the best. What you describe proves that Adrian Newey is simply the best designer in the field right now. The Red Bull didn't start out as the best car in the beginning of the season, but after a bunch of races Newey was best able to analyse the results, see what other teams were doing, take the best bits of the best cars and integrate them the best into his cars, and after that adaptation period, the Newey cars have evolved to the front of the field. So - yes, all the artifice and gimmicks have been worth it, as Newey and Red Bull have done the best job in adapting the cars to get faster as the understanding of the tires and aero tricks has evolved. Red Bull has out-developed Ferrari and McLaren, in competition at the highest, most intense level. That's what F1 is all about, competition between the drivers, competition between the teams. This season has been brilliant, and Newey has risen to the challenge and proved once again that he's the best. Helmet spoilers have been used for nearly a decade in F1!
Not anything that looks like that. Almost looks like a Toyota Supra spoiler, everyone else has an accent lip, not a spoiler.
