There is more to it than meets the eye. With all due respect......don't assume anything...this isn't over by a long shot.

I hope it's not over, and I hope when it is over nobody in the IMS ownership or executive team is still there...

    Ack!

Penske taking over ownership of IMS and
Indy Car would be the end.

    What's this about?

    Indy racing?

    Does that even exist anymore?

I saw some things that looked like overgrown slot cars, but that can't be indy cars..

Come you your senses young sir... If Roger wanted to do it, he would have done it long LONG ago, when the series actually meant something.
The series is complete toast until they can revamp EVERYTHING about it, and I just don't see that happening, I see it toiling along like CART did after the split, and then just dying altogether. THEN, someone will come along and claim it in bankruptcy court, and even THEY won't be able to make it work.

I think we've heard these stories before... *cough* CART *cough*

yes he co-founded it, he was voted off the early sanctioning body, and he was part of the reason it was run into the ground.

If you guys are going to start throwing around ideas at least look at the history for gods sake.

"Nov-Dec 2001: Roger Penske, CART co-founder, and owner of the reigning 2001 champion team, leaves CART for the IRL. "

If the Detroit GP at Belle Isle debacle wasn't an
indication of Penske's ineptitude, what is?

Indy Car needs new blood at all levels without
the built-in conflict of interest having a team owner
    running the show.

I have a hard time watching Indy races on TV, due to the speed, and danger. Things happen so fast, that most drivers are leaving a little on the table to play with, rather than going all out, its not really possible to go all out with setup and have a driver that doesn't wreck it. The racing isn't that exciting, and its hard to follow "buzzz buzzz buzzz" every few seconds.

    Detroit Diesel?

    the Superbowl in 2006?

    Hertz Truck Leasing?

I guess those don't count because of an issue with some bad pavement patches at one race.

I agree with you and that also goes for Tony George also (Vision Racing)

The series also needs some consistency in terms of regular tracks it races at, one of the only way you are going to build a relationship with fans.

I have a hard time watching it on TV also because every 30 seconds they go to commercial..

It'd be great to get some one else covering the series from a TV aspect. I've never been a fan of ABC / ESPNs racing coverage.

    LOL good one!

Too me there is just something wrong with the series but I cannot put my finger on it and even with the new turbo format it seems nothing has changed.
