I like it. It passes the eye test.

IMO, it has the wow factor that the MP4-12C lacks.

 

And the carbon chassis that the 458 lacks. Could be a winner.

 

It is odd how much it resembles the McLaren, but better executed overall.

 

what? the photoshop? its a 918 spyder body with a 911 roof. Its made in 5 minutes....

 

So ferrari and mclaren must be worried? Or they should be?
Mclaren was trying to beat ferrari and may have in the upcoming years delivered a serious blow to ferrari sales, but porsche may end up beating them both in this segment. But is 250K sterling price competitive? I thought the Italia was around 200k.

Only a naive company would not be worried about Porsche entering their market space.

Porsche's CEO Matthias Müller has finally confirmed that a new mid-engine supercar is on the way. Having been a long time rumor, this new model has been in talks of being called the 961. Power is thought to come from the 918's new V8 but turbocharged producing 600bhp. In combination with lightweight carbon and aluminum body and structure, it could give the car a 0-60mph time around 3 seconds and top speed of 220mph. The new coupe will fall between the GT2 and 918 Spyder. It will be direct competition to the Ferrari F12 Berlinetta and Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4. Pricing is thought to be around €300,000 ($392,126 US) and €400,000 ($522,835 US).It is believed to reach the market in 2014.

So this fits in between the range-topping 918 and top of the line 911 Turbo S (or whatever top 911 model will be)???

 

I assume yes although I have always been under the impression it will be a direct rival to 458, 12C, Gallardo, etc. NOT against Aventador or F12. even tho I am sure it will be faster than either around a racetrack!

Hello Brandon & THANKS!!!...Have to agree, the 961 looks MUCH BETTER!!....the side by side for myself REALLY HELPS!!...I would like to see the tops of the front fenders vented like the Slantnose.....Mark

 

Hmmm ... I reckon same chassis as R8, as CEO Matthias Müller did not say carbon chassis. Heck maybe even same engine with a Porsche logo. After all they are incestuous that lot.
