I want to buy a new Ferrari 458 Spider. Could you please give me some ideas how a 20 year old can accomplish this? I see people buying brand exotic cars in a recession and I don't get how. What do they do?

My parents have an SLK 55 and had a Porsche Cayenne Turbo. I want to impress them.

    Thank you :)

P.S. If I end up making money on a suggestion you make, then I will give you commission. The commission will be 10% of first year's sales. If I make a lot more than that, then I'll give you a higher percent. Let's say I make $2 million; I wouldn't mind giving you 50%. I love ideas and currently I'm not making much money. Working at the mall sucks. My parents want me to start from scratch like them :(

    LOL WUT. :D:D

Why do people expect to make money instantly? Work your ass off! Keep dreaming and you are going to get left behind!

Now, don't take this the wrong way...I don't know you, but you probably have no idea how easy you have it. Keep working at the mall, save up, you won't make a lot of money quickly but you will gain experience and know the rights and wrongs.

Jeez...where the hell was I, and this motivation when I was probably your age, I'm guessing 16 or so. I probably wouldn't be struggling as much as I do now.

EDIT: Whoops, you are 20. Not too far off from me, but damn, I'm getting old! :(

Most.. well.. ALL of the 458 I've met and known have their car because they've worked and saved and invested their money their entire life. The only people that have a brand new 458 at 25 I've even read about have inherited their money, borrowed the car from mom or dad, or have started an business in their teens. Most, under 40 lets say, have inherited the $$$.

The rest are in their 40's and 50's and have built up something from scratch.. a business, a professional career, etc. If you want the instant mega bucks, aside from lottery wins, it's usually illegal.. and usually lasts 36 minths before it collapses and people go to jail. There aren't too many ways to instant wealth. It's usually something that is built. Most of what you see now in this recession are people that had something before and have built it up further IMHO. I predict alot of it is wealth in the market, riding equities. Get an education, education is "tools" that help you differentiate yourself from other people and help you develop your ideas when they come to you. An education also gives you credibility in the way you communicate to others, and with a degree. If that's not in the cards, work hard, be a reputable person, think and explore, and look for opportunity.

I think your parents are spot on.. although I predict if you really want to impress them a stupid car isn't going to go far. Being a decent, honorable, successful person in life often impresses a parent more than a fancy car.

Ain't happening (20yo). How to? See all the posts above.

I sincerely hope "impressing your parents" is REALLY NOT WHY you want a Ferrari.

I promise you this gleened solely from your post, it won't.

Oh, and did anyone above happen to say, "Listen to your parents?"

You didn't talk about your education level?

Also, if there was a way to make a few million in a short time, the people that know about it would have done it themselves.

If you are not used to hard work you can get the next degree you don't have while working full time. That will get you in the rythem of making money.

Mate. I'm 20 years old, work at a shopping centre serving groceries to customers (I actually like it), and my folks drive one car - close resemblance to those workhorse cars that you guys use.

458 Spider ownership? Wait until the new Forza comes out, purchase the car with your HARD EARNED credits, and impress all your friends and family with your newly acquired sex symbol. I expect you to transfer 10% of your credits to me upon you doing this.

I do not understand that you MUST own a 458 in your early 20s and right now, when you clearly cannot clarify the intention and needs necessary to own one. Once you understand this principle, for good or bad, you will be fit to purchase an Fcar- because you will know what is required of you to buy it.

I am sorry if what I say is blunt. I would rather you hear it from someone who is your age and kinda along the same wavelength as you.

    Live long mate,

    Michael.

You all are giving him bad advice...
It's really not hard to become a multi-millionaire at age 20.
There are a number of paths you could take:

    You should either
    A) become a famous actor
    B) become a famous sports star
    C) become a rock star
    D) win the lottery.

See!! Super easy to make millions at a young age and impress the world with how cool you are in a Ferrari.....

if your parents have those cars chances are they aren't doing too badly themselves. Maybe follow in their footsteps? There's no guaranteed path to being successful enough to buy the latest and greatest exotic. The best advise I can give you for longer term success is to save and invest a lot. Stick to the basics. Diversify and buy high quality dividend paying stocks. This will ensure you financial security when you are much older. It sucks having to wait but you can certainly entertain yourselves with nice used 911s or bmw m3s for cheap in the interim.

BTW have you looked at 360 prices lately? Best bang for the buck exotic out there if you ask me. Sure it's not a 458 but it'll get you about 90% of the way there on an affordable budget.

Get in the hitman business. A high profile hit executed should net you a decent amount of money. Also, when people ask you what you do for a living, you get to say you're a hitman (that's pretty cool).

    Don't get caught though.

There are no shortcuts to 458 ownership, short of winning the lottery or the gene pool. Work hard, invest, and spend wisely.

Odds of it happening any other way are slim. Getting ideas from the internet isn't a good start.

OMG! I completely forgot THE SECRET.

There is this guy named Reza.. he goes by the username "Oceansky" here on ferrarichat he's in Toronto.

    1) If you give him money.. he can make you millions... or so he says. Much, MUCH better returns than even the legitimate experts here can create. Double, TRIPLE your money in no time whatsoever. How he does it I don't know... something about currency trading with a secret method.
    2) If you believe this above, I have a bridge to sell you
    3) Don't fall for the get rich quick BS. Don't be these types of guys. Kharma always bites or rewards in the end.

I'm a sophmore at USC and majoring in financing. The thing is, my parents are *******s. I have to work for everything and they're very strict. I have a feeling if I make money, then they'll treat me better. My dad drives around in an Aston Martin DBS, and he's barely around. He never lets me touch his car neither does my mom. I drive a ****ing piece of **** used BMW M3. I have a lot of problems with my car and it's 5 years old.

I know flipping real estate is great, but is there anything else people do?

The thing is that I want to know what people do, to get ideas. If someone mentions an idea that makes me money, then I'll gladly give them a cut. I only want a Ferrari to impress my parents. To me a car is a car. I see it more of a status symbol and I want to be worth something to my parents.

Thanks for all the kind and honest responses. I appreciate it!

There are NO shortcuts! Work hard, get an education, and stay out of trouble. Of course there are no guarantees. But in America, you have a better shot at success than ANYWHERE on the planet. Because of the media/Hollywood, young people have been conditioned into thinking that they are entitled to money and material goods because.....well, they just are! I want it now, and I don't want to wait! You are entitled to absolutely nothing. I would go on to say that the vast majority of guys on this forum have worked their asses off and sacrificed to be able to afford the types of cars that are discussed here. Work for it and you will probably succeed.

I guess times have changed a little! My first car was 8 years old when it was handed down to me and required massive rust repairs - which I did myself. I loved that car and was thrilled to have it. I stayed home from high school graduation parties because I was changing the cam chain tensioner. :-(

I think you need to re-think the whole impressing your parents thing.

It is an easy four step process:
    - build a time machine.
    - travel back to January 2009.
    - start a new unprofitable solar technology company funded with multi-hundred-million dollar government grants.
    - pay yourself $20+ million a year as an executive salary out of that grant money.

    Easy squeezy.
