I guess they're claiming force majeure..... I also guess Charlie's checking the data to verify said claim.
If it blew up they'd be penalized but stopping before melt down is considered Force Majeure? When did the FIA relocate down the rabbit hole?
Not what I meant...... My 02c; - Did Charlie get his full liter of gas out of it? If not, see ya at the back. - Can they prove he didn't stop in order to conserve fuel? I guess there should have been about 3-4 liters left at least - If not, see ya. - If the engine is broken, 5 places for a change tomorrow, no further action required. Beyond that, I have no idea. The delay in a ruling is always "worrying". Lets see what Charlie has to say before blaming 'em again - I'm with Steve - As long as it's consistent, I'm happy. Cheers, Ian
Reports are coming in... http://www.f1fanatic.co.uk/2012/11/03/vettel-abu-dhabi-qualifying-penalty-decision/ http://adamcooperf1.com/2012/11/03/vettel-sent-to-back-of-abu-dhabi-grid/ http://en.espnf1.com/ EDIT: I was beat lol
That's what Vettel and Horner told to German website motorsportmagazin.com. No word about fuel shortage.
Vettel sent to the back of thE Grid; huge break for Aloneo. Let's see if they can capitalize though; 1 sec slower in qualifying doesn't make me optimistic
Link please for the confirmed report oops, thank you sir ^^^^ Alonso's magic dust saves his arse yet again.
It's certainly a break but what would you consider capitalize? Vettel will crack the top 10 in a matter of laps because he will be racing much slower cars. Ferrari has not looked the greatest through the weekend so far. It's going to be a big test IMO of Vettel's maturity. He has proven that he is a mature and professional driver but one mistake or aggressive pass could cost him the title. I expect two Mclarens on the podium tomorrow with some interesting stuff between Kimi/Maldonado/Webber and Button as he passes a pair of them.
Most importantly he won't be able to negate anyone's DRS. Secondly passes take time and involve risk. This will make for a more interesting race.
Massa will finally get a chance to be useful & cockblock Vettel throughout the entire race if Vettel moves up the grid, as he did with Kimi in India, maybe even have "an accident"
Still nothing on official F1 website, not even the fact that Seb stopped let alone the disqualification. Pathetic.
Irrelevant, surely? Autosport reports that the stewards did initially accept their FM argument and no further action was expected. However, Charlie then sucked on the syphon tube and couldn't get a liter out - Hence, back of the grid...... Cheers, Ian EDIT; Expect the conspiracy theorists along in a moment.....
A little late in the game, but a few comments. First, it was reported by Speed that Ferrari supposedly cheated by working 2 entire curfews in a row, or something to that effect. The good news is it wasn't penalized, even after several teams complained. The bad news is why the hell they're so slow after that huge advantage? Vettel's tranny was neutralized before he stopped, so he might have mechanical issues in addition to fuel ones. If starting at the back anyway, he might get a new motor, tranny, or both, no? That might minimize mechanical issues on the last 2 races. Can RB do that if desired? And finally, Alonso should be able to easily erase Vettel's lead. Tomorrow is going to be a true test of driver's ability for both. Alonso needs to finish 3rd to take the championship lead back, with Vettel 9th or below. This development is going to make the race interesting. QUESTION: Why the hell driver's are not sent back to the back of the qualifying session they 'failed'? Great break for Alonso, but doesn't sound fair to send them to the back of the grid, rather than P10, in this case (end of Q3). He 'cheated' on Q3, not Q2 or Q1. Could have happened to Alonso too. What are your thoughts on that? Have a good one folks.
