Come to think of it Redbull are such great liars lol, Horner, "I don't know really what's wrong, we were asked by Renault to stop the car."

What a load of bullocks, if the car was low on fuel Rocky & Horner would've definitely known, and instead of coming clean they tried to pass it off as a mechanical failure lol. I don't recall McLaren pulling such a stunt when hami was on pole but ran out of fuel on the inlap, some sportsmanlike conduct there lol.

FWIW, Autosport reports he'll start from the back of the grid. He is however at liberty to start from pitlane, and in that case I believe he's considered to be out of parc ferme once they start heading to the grid. I'm 99% sure his tire choice is now free.

    Cheers,
    Ian

    It's the pits for Seb.

Great for Fred. He needs to make up points on him after the last race. ;)

But what if there are two issues?

    Hmmm?

No need for a tin foil hat. A deerstalker will do.

It seems that may indeed be the case. Hopefully, Charlie's complete statement will get released, but from what I've read their initial FM argument was accepted as valid (no word on if a new 'box or motor is needed). Charlie not being able to find any gas is what got 'em. At least the rule is being applied consistently.....

    ;)

Back to earlier question. Given the pit start penalty is there any further sanction for a new engine or box?

I believe so. If yer motor and/or 'box doesn't last the requisite time, you get a penalty - Potentially at the next race. The exception are Fridays don't count and blowing up in the race itself. I think.

So, my understanding is that if he changes either, he could be hosed in Austin. Which would upset a few folk. ;)

    Cheers,
    Ian

So now on one side of the grid we have slowwalker followed by the Kraken followed by Alonso.
    Should be fun.

    It's what we're not (yet) being told that's key IMO. From Bernie's site;

So, it would seem *something* broke - Otherwise they have zero claim to FM. The big question now becomes, what broke? And will it cause a further penalty in Austin?

    Cheers,
    Ian

No reason for Alonso not to jump back on top of the WDC. If he can't pull 3rd from 6th, he doesn't deserve it. He should finish 2nd if he wants to prove himself :D. For Vettel, it's almost impossible to finish any better than 8th, which would give him the lead if Alonso finishes 3rd. Alonso needs to run a flawless race. Only Webber might give him any real trouble.

My question is if he can't change engine and tranny without penalty in Austin, what happens if he changes both? Is there an additional penalty compared to just the engine OR tranny?

I'm not so optimistic. Seb will be at Alonso's tail in no time, who will hear the "he's faster than you" message himself this time.

That's almost impossible man. Well, unless the safety car comes into play. But still, coming all the way back is not easy task. I believe Hamilton holds that record, and he finished in 8th, no? And remember Vettel was having trouble with the hard tires. RB not nearly as dominant as the last few races. Half a second quicker than Alonso on softs; much less on hards IMO. Not enough to make up more than 8th IMO. We'll see how good SV really is tomorrow :D.

Could be, but traditionally Seb's more of a ride off into the sunset type than a charge from behind sort.

And Horner wonders why Vettel & Red Bull aren't as popular as the other big teams...
