This is F1 finding the edge great stuff, that's until the FIA rule making hammer comes down, funny thing is the teams police each other.

    Thanks, that interesting reading.
I wonder how/if the vent that is scraping on Weber's car contributes.

Looks like Vettel's secret fuel capacity during qualifying didn't pay off.

Ironically if he's going to do a lot of passing he'll need more gas.

And thus the argument continues...Vettel started on pit row and ended up in third place.

Having the best minds work on clever ways to circumvent manipulated rules is cool, but to the most part pointless as far as real world automobile applications are concerned.
Want to take a big chunk out of worldwide petroleum usage ?
Hand these guys a fixed amount of fuel, no engine rules, and say "go for it, may the best ideas win".

Hand then a fixed BTU content of (room temperature liquid) fuel, and let them have at it.

If you want an open competition that would be great.
Unfortunately it doesn't allow for evening the field if one team dominates and screws up the ratings.

Nah hes just the best driver out there really tied with Alonso I suppose. There couldn't have been anyone else out there that could have done what he did today, coming from last place twice to get up to where he did. He drove that car so well and he even had a lot of things go wrong for him (front wing with Senna and then finally killing it with that polystyrene block under the safety car). Now obviously some things helped him out (second safety car and people crashing in front of him), but he did a lot of amazing things all on his own.

After this race no one could say he is undeserving of the championship. Newey may make the aero on the cars work, but Vettel still has to get them to the finish line.

"The strategy is only guaranteed to work if they break free at the start..."

Well, so much for arm chair experts.

Vettel started last and came in xxx ( no spoilers... :))

Obviously this "secret" works not only from the front.

i was just thinking the same when reading that ....vettel did just fine through traffic today, so that high rake and lower speed advantages of the design are working there, and webber is quik too, if only he could get some better luck! :)
