You can be assured that Vettel's car's top speed will be much higher tomorrow for the race!

Sure, the top speed was low when they were planning to be racing from the front of the grid - but Red Bull doesn't miss a trick. They have elected to remove the car from Parc Ferme to allow them to work on it, which means they get a penalty of having to start from the pit lane. Not much of a penalty when he's last already, and he can avoid all the grid start nonsense at the first corner!

By getting to work on the car, Red Bull will transform the setup - you can bet that the wings (at least the settings) and gearing will be changed to facilitate DRS passing, and suddenly Vettel's RB will be one of the faster cars on the straight.

It is going to be a most interesting race!

    The TV is our friend.
    ;)

What hat do they pull the top speed out of?
Years ago you could simply dial in more or less wing. Today's cars are much more of an integrated system.

I think that was originally my line. Or something like it: I used this in the endless discussions over Herr Schumacher's competitiveness. I don't need sector times or inside connections. Just show me the race.

And btw: I'm delighted to see Vettel start from pitlane. Yeeha!

Be careful what you wish for. My TV also shows Senor Massa's competitiveness...

Then again I have to say, he improved big time recently.

    BWAHAHAHA!! Forza Alonso!
As long as Hamilton or Vettel don't win another WDC, I'm happy!

Nope, Jenson has him beat. Canadian GP 2011, from LAST to FIRST!

He needs to give FA help tomorrow to make the best of the Vettel situation!

The Speed footage showed his tranny shift to N before he stopped. Didn't look like he did it on purpose, but it's hard to see his fingers' action on the back of the steering wheel. Drivers usually shift to N when stopped. If anything, it'd be tranny related. We'll know tomorrow for sure. It'd be a double-whammy if true.

I don't know if 'much' higher, but you might have a point. It's hard to adjust much on those cars with everything integrated, but they're starting from the pits for a reason. Guess we'll find out tomorrow.

Well, he could do what I suggested for Webbo to do: Slice one of Vettel's tires with the front wing...

It happens often enough to be "accidental", wink wink.

I think Steve you are correct, if Alonso can't win tomorrow, I sure hope that Lewis does. I just hope this completely closes the gap for Fred. As some said before, what happened to Alonso in the two races he was taken out was not fair to him and Ferrari, they were not Mechanical Failures, but other drivers taking him out.

GOD I PRAY FERNANDO WINS THE CHAMPIONSHIP THIS YEAR!

F1 is playing games to keep the TV numbers up ... Bernie strikes again. What a load of BS!

Leader suddenly has an issue, yeah right.

The fix has been in ever since MS multiple championships caused the decline in viewership. 2004 was when Bernie decided enough is enough and since then we had stunning WDC finales. Coincidence? I think not.

Except for the Brawn GT juggernaut, but that was in itself such a rags-to-riches feel good story that it was let to play out.

Come on Pete, same thing happened to Hamilton, I think RB played to close to the Edge. I am happy it happened, sick of seeing the Championships decided by Newey's Rear Blown Diffuser BS, F1 to me has become a load of Bull with the championships decided by the Aerodynamicist.

+1 yeh agreed, Pete I would be the first to call it BS if I smelt a rat, I don't though, the other half rolled her eyes when I said Vet had gone to the back but... I think not.

Further I would have been more hacked off if Vet had been given the let off.

Maybe am wishful thinking but the days of Mosley type fixing are over with Todt at the helm, I maybe completely wrong where Bernie is concerned, but I don't see Todt playing ball with Bernie so easy in that department.

Uh, oh, you're not paying attention my friend.

Todt is much more quiet in his approach, but he his changing the game every year. Just look at the decisions (or lack thereof).

Latest example is the protest the teams filed against Ferrari, which the FIA turned down.

Not that I'm complaining. Just saying.

F1 has become a big money game for many people. Keeping the decision till the last race pays huge dividends.
