Interesting the difference between the early flares and later. Can anyone say when the switch occured. And BTW, I was asked if anyone has the lower part of that flare, for an S1 being restored? Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Peter, The deeper lower wheel arch section was used for LP400S S1/2/3 cars only. The more shallow section is for LP500S & QV.
For the S3 to have the square front flare, it would have to be a special piece as the rocker panel changed with the high-body cars... wouldn't it?
I wouldn't mind once I get it finished, I just don't know about copyright/trademark infringement as far as putting the countach on a shirt, etc . I don't want to make/sell it and later down the road get sued by Lamborghini.
Its is well know that Bob Wallace took the LP400 prototype to Monaco to be presented around the F1 GP. Not sure if photos are existing so far - but now I found some on the web (© unknown). It seems that it was a presentation of Supercars from that period as also 2 Maseratis, 1 De Tomaso, 1 Bizzarini and some other prototypes etc. took part. Not sure if this LP400 pics had been already posted here. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I seem to remember no. I asked the same question and the answer I got was only a repainted lp5000. Then we saw the car restored on Reunion Island.
The list of differences between low and high body cars just keeps growing.... It wasn't that long ago some people were still convinced there was no change in dimensions. They were masters with pulling off the redesign but the low car details really make a difference = aggressive
