Read 2008, I suppose, not 2009, which was the "spring incident" year? And besides: the point is, precisely, that he is not as good as in 2008 anymore. That Massa is gone. No use to speculate about what the Massa of 2008 could have achevied. What the Massa of 2008 has actually achieved can be found in the history books. Meanwhile, four years later, the world has changed...other guys are the "Top Guns" of today, so no use to spend more time on lamenting what the Massa of 2008 could have achieved: he is not there anymore. (And about "new" top guns: not so "new" for at least "the return of the "Arctic Mute", which makes me very happy) Best
I really meant 2009, before Hungary of course....felipe was driving superbly that clifford...far worse than the one they´ve got this year....i think he was even better than in 2008, noy making any mistake and still beating Kimi....whom i belive was also driving very well that year.
It does. In this chart, I did some normalization to give overtakes and overtakens by GP, and also the ratio of takes to takens (which is how it's sorted here). Guess it helps most to qualify poorly in a great car, and it sucks to be in a Yugo, but there is some insight here... Image Unavailable, Please Login
yes you do, and i don´t recall anyone else having the best car on the grid during his first year besides hamilton!!! Massa endured a sauber for a couple of years, Button some crappy Hondas but hammy always had a competitive machine.
I'm also pretty sure we haven't had a hundred + GP's this year either..... ["Oops"! ] I can't remember where I found it now, but someone did a similar analysis by season - IIRC, dear old Phil was the most prolific passer of them all in 2011. [OK, partly because his qualy sucked, but he still had to get past.] Cheers, Ian
Lol, it seemed like a lot of passes for one season to me too but it made more sense than the other way to look at it? For example there's no way Schumi has only had 195 passes in a 21 year career with 300+ starts. I mean look at LH at Spain theres about 15 passes right there. Massa always qualifies poorly but does better in the race, which would explain a lot of passes. Plus, this stat can be misleading. You can't register passes if you're the one leading
It would be normal for MS not having a lot of passes since he spent most of the time way ahead of everyone else!!!!
of course....I'm not sure what can be taken out of that list, actually, because there are so many variables.
+1000. Let all the Playstation race-winners in this thread first get to where Felipe is, both in race-results in F1 as well as salary and other income. And he's a cool guy to boot. Hard to beat for most if not all. If Massa sucks, I'd like to suck some of that too.
