Pole: How old are the tires on your car? Also, how old it too old for spirited driving?

    $1,000 seems a little low.

You might have to pay someone more than that to take them. :p

If someone posted an ad "Wanted to Buy, set of 4 original metric wheels with used TRX tires for 400i", how many replies do you think he would get?

It would become a low bidding war. Guys would be offering cash and free dinner to the first person who would cart them away.

I still have the metric wheels and tires and like the way they look. What is everyone else using?

8x16" repros and 245/50/16 all the way around for me. I sold my TRX's for about $180 for all 4, I was just glad someone could use them...the spare is still a TRX with original, hard as a rock tire....Lee

Where did you get them and around how much are they per tire? Could you post a pic of your car with them? I saw a 400i with non-metric wheels/tires (can't remember what size though) and I thought it changed the overall look/stance of the car.

We needed new tires for a 400i and could not find a new set of TRXs anywhere. It appears it may be 6 months or more before new TRXs are available. We decided to do the 16" conversion. We bought 16" 5 star reproductions from Rutlands (770 493-8852). They cost about the same as you'll pay Superformance when you add in duty and shipping.

Installation is straight forward except you have to use Hill Engineering wheel spacers to clear the calipers.

The result looks great and you're no longer a slave to Coker Tire.

Interesting, do you recall the required spacer thickness front and rear ? Did the bolt thread engagement end up being the same or did the spacers subtract from the standard thread engagement in hub? Very good info, thanks

    Godspeed!
