I heard some noise over towards Daytona today and the weather was so nice I decided to check it out.

Turned out to be the last race of the season for the HSR ( Historic Sportscar Racing ) so I grabbed my camera and took a few pictures and some video.
Some pretty cool cars and I hear tomorrow will be even better.

Not a bad way to spend the afternoon :)

Cool to see Audi R8s on the track.

Who is driving them and what sort of lap times
    are they doing?

Except for a quick pass through the garage during lunch, I spent all of my time roaming the track for camera angles.
Unfortunately they didn't have any announcer on the PA to inform me and the seventeen other spectators :) as to what was going on
with the schedule or anything else. It was so low key it felt like a private test day. Today the actual racing begins so it will probably be different.

Here's the link to their website which might yield what you're looking for http://www.hsrrace.com/2012_Daytona.html

I will say the #74 was super fast and really drove it deep into the corners. Compared to the other cars around him it was almost surreal.
Sure would be nice if the ALMS ran at Daytona :D

Again great pictures from the past. The one with the Camaro and the GT40 is amazing. The GT40 looks like a toy next to the Camaro. Great shot.

George Robinson in the Judd powered 74 car did a high 1:37 in qualifying, David Porter in a 2008 Pescarolo did a high 1:40, the Audis are in the 1:44-1:46 range.

What's amazing is one of the fellow that I'm working with did a 2:06.6 in a 2-liter Porsche 911!

Here is a shot of David Porter in his Pescarolo Judd

I'm sure I got some pics of the 2 liter Porsche 911 too.

If you'd like, with a car # I can find and post a couple.

I had the pleasure of seeing the number 2 R8 in action at Sebring two weeks ago. My buddy and I walked through the pits and Mr Engen invited us into the tent to check out the R8 up close. What a beautiful car. The blue Pescarolo was also there and it was incredibly quick. Thanks for sharing the photos.

David's a great guy. Heck, Judd sends a guy over from England just to look after the engine!

My guy was in the 36 red Brumos car and the fast lap was done in the last 3/4 of the 11 AM Enduro Saturday. Passing for 7th overall against much larger cars the last lap!

I saw that red Brumos 911 on your FB page, that's a gorgeous (and historically significant!) car. I'm jealous

    I'm currently using a Canon 7D with a Canon 70-200 F2.8

The older HSR shots were with the same lens but a Canon 20D body.

So far my favorite body was my 40D. I used a few basic setting and the pictures came out beautiful.
My 7D is new and I'm still trying to figure it out and don't even get me started on trying to get decent video :D

Here's most of what I got. I remember that car was very fast!

Please feel free to take the pictures and use them somewhere else. I'm happy to share :)
