Another one of my favourites.....somethimes i still wake-up in race days beliving it´s KImmi and Felipe in red.....and that Alonso in a Ferrari was just a bad dream.....unfortunatly i soon realise my worst nightmare as become reality!!!!
I used to feel this way but Alonso's performance this year has won be back. While I still think he has questionable character as a driver he is the best in the field and his determination to win a title at ferrari despite their inability to produce the best car in the field is something i've come to admire. kimi is still my favorite driver though.
Yup. Since Monza he has found some speed again. Still makes horrible mistakes (like spinning out at the last GP). Let's see how long this trend continues.
Excuse me, but are you saying that NO-ONE other than Alonso can have any meaningful input on who drives at Ferrari? He's the only guy working there who has gotten to similar race results/income. Not all race drivers are great team managers every time, and not all team managers are great race drivers. Some things can be very obvious from the side lines. In the case of Massa, I think its very blurred. Its obvious Ferrari has a A/B driver strategy, so obviously, Massa is going to not finish as well. How much this plays into his results? I don't know...we don't know. But to say you have to be a F1 driver to comment on them...nah.
So you're saying that unless you're an F1 driver, you're not allowed to have an opinion on the relative merits and abilities of the (other) F1 drivers? You do understand how spectator sports work, right? Or are you going to tell all the baseball and football and socker and hockey and cricket and... fans that they aren't allowed to cheer or boo at the players unless they've made the team themselves? Get serious, then we'll talk about how bad Massa sucks.
Where did I say that you weren't entitled to have an opinion about FM, or anyone else for that matter? What I am saying is that FM achieved a great deal in F1, it deserves respect. The title of the thread alone is just plain insulting, let alone some of its' content. It's easy to write/post, but you have no control over who is reading your message. It goes down to who you are and what you're made of. Character and good manners go a long way.
+1. Plenty here probably have a hard time reconciling their almost hate of Felipe, with the spirited defense Alonso has given Felipe. Lets see, the hate here or the defense of Massa by the ultimate hero to some here, Alonso. Many of you might want to call Alonso and just let him have it lol!
You are right- FM has achieved a great deal in F1. Fact is, that's all historical fact and F1 more than most sports doesn't give two hoots about it because the future is more important. The last race demonstrated what many of us thought might happen after he re-signed for another year- regression back to mediocrity. Pity but that's the way it is.
Im a fan but I honestly thought he wouldnt be re-signed and no one could really have an issue with it given past performance. I would have picked Hulk. Management evidently didnt see it that way for whatever myriad of reasons, no matter who they considered.
Ferrari's F1 management is retarded. Not just for their decision regarding Massa but for others as well. That's why they're not winning WDCs anymore. I have seen a few things, which really made me shake my head. Their only saving grace is that other teams occasionally make retarded decisions as well.
I think its Massa's ability in Clifford that will cost it. Somehow FA just has the 'karma' to get something out of ole Cliffy Massa can only, literally dream of. It is an amazing sight when FA has the car on the fine fine edge.
Where you said: So that was pretty clear, alright? As for: Ok, fair enough - note that you, also, used the past tense - he achieved a great deal in F1, 3 to 5 years ago. The thread title is present tense - Massa has achieved NOTHING in 3 seasons. His results since his return from the accident have been pathetic, way below the standard he showed before the accident. Sure, he achieved a great deal pre-2009, and those achievements are worthy of respect. They're not worthy of a charity drive in F1 with Ferrari for 2 years after he showed that he has lost the speed and consistency he had pre-accident. Massa deserves respect for what he achieved pre-2009. His performance post-2009 prove he does not deserve a Ferrari F1 drive any more.
I have trouble accepting that Ferrari were happy to push out MS and Kimi, but keep Massa as a charity case. Where's the logic? They've been shown to be ruthless in the past. I can only think that Massa is the best option available to them, otherwise he'd be gone. There are millions of dollars involved here, and some of the very best minds in the car racing world, and some of you are second guessing them? Seriously?
we are talking about Ferrari remember, hardly the best minds in the car racing world. Witness the Italian team in the A1 GP ... utterly useless. Pete
Nobody's perfect or infallible, even Ferrari employees. Current example - which wind tunnel is Ferrari using for their reliable aero work - their stylish Italian designed local wind tunnel, or Toyota's German designed, located and operated in Germany, wind tunnel? Ferrari are obviously second guessing themselves, why shouldn't we?
Good post, I certainly concede the first point. As for the remainder, to me it is a good example that an opinion can be expressed without being disrespectful. Thank you!
Well the Italians did disgrace themselves in A1 GP, but yes Scuderia Ferrari is not that bad . We do have to remember that Ferrari is loved for their passion and commitment to Motorsport not necessarily because they are good at it. After all considering the resource advantage they used to have they should have won every WDC since 1960 at least ... but they didn't. Tiny English teams with quarter of the history and experience beat them fair and square. Nowadays they don't have that resource advantage (own foundary and factory so they can make whatever they like) so the playing field is more even . Pete
