    Haha! Jim, I just happened to see this thread. I normally don't lurk around in this subforum outside of the "watch of the day" thread.

    I have had 5 Anonimos over the years and I have kept two that I won't part with: a manual wind Militare and a limited edition Milimetri (Trilogeo).

    They are great watches and, in my opinion, the last real handcrafted Italian watches. When Panerai was bought and the production moved to Switzerland, the watchmakers in Italy had nothing to do. Finally, the new company was started, employing the same craftsmen and using the same facilities. They had everything they had when they were Panerai - the artistry, craftsmanship, technical ability, facilities, tooling, etc. - everything but the name. They didn't need a name, they felt, so they called the company "Nameless," or in Italian, Anonimo.

    The only problem is that they are not cheap to service (less than Rolex but still spendy) and it can sometimes take a long time to get back from Italy. But they are great watches and very much the real thing. I love mine.
