Looking at buying f430. Dealer tells me that clutch has 29% wear which is good he says, car has 5500 miles, is that normal wear ?
What causes high clutch wear ( excluding fast launches) and at what wear would you change clutch ? 75% or more ?
    Thanks

I've read that F1 clutch wear is not linear and that the lessor half of the clutch ( > 50%) will wear faster than the first 50%.

Correct. Also, 430 clutch wear occurs slower in the 430 than the 360's, the software and clutch/flywheel/PIS sensor are also better....

That is probably average for the miles. I'd figure it into your offer. Backing up especially backing up hills. I try never to get my 430 into a situation where it would ever need to back up any sort of incline. Also, hills in forward if the clutch is not fully engaged will reduce the clutch life. I'm sure that automatic mode also contributes to wear as it tries to smooth out the ride. I also try to avoid back up as much as humanly possible. Also, I don't let people drive it that are not familiar with how an F1 drives as it is not an automatic.

As to when to replace that depends on the car. A friend of mine bought a 430 knowing the clutch was nearly done and it works fine so far. He is prepared to replace it as he is fully aware of it.

wear is average or slightly less than average for the mileage.
