F70 will it challenge the veyron top end?

I don't think it will. Nor do I think Ferrari is aiming for such a figure.

From what we have heard and seen so far this car is a state of the art track weapon. Not a Veyron basher.

 

Plus there is a new super veyron reported to have 1600hp coming out so I doubt Ferrari will for for the top speed record.

 

I hope they make it a point to deliberately not attempt to match the Veyron. I think those numbers are pointless. Create a real world machine (as much as a 7+ figure Ferrari can be considered real world)

Most mortals will never find themselves in an environment where those speeds can be realized.

 

Who cares?

 

Ferrari could make a car that goes 300 miles an hour. But what is the point?

Overall performance is their goal.

 

I don't think Ferrari really cares about what the Veyron does.

I do own Bugatti veyron to be honest I never had a chance to go over 280km maybe more not sure never bothered looking if more I'll log to check with my hp handheald phone provided by Bugatti to see.

It's an amazing car drives like a Bentely gt on steroids so different.

If 400++ km is what you after let me tell you you will never go that fast under normal road condition it's just the ego that you driving the fastest car out there.

Ferrari approach seems and should be different light,sound looks and feels like a Ferrari with. Ferrari soul.

Personally I never went over 340km on all my years driving super cars since high school when I was craz and I don't see the need for it anymore.

When I wanted to destroy anything out there I built a Twin turbo viper( big fan) with over 1500hp that's for fun.

 

Apparently less than 2% of veyrons have gone over 400 km/h...Which is a disappointment really. I'm actually a tad surprised you've 'only' done 280 km/h with your veyron since it gets there so easily!

 

In a mile race fxx could give the veyron ago

 

I guess nowadays top speed isn´t a priority anymore for supercar makers.
What a car must give is the pure, true pleasure of driving it.
In this, cars like the future F70, 918, P1, or Huayra are/will be the best the market can/will offer.

During our last Autumn Drive here in The Netherlands on October 21st 2012 we were able to drive on a 5 km asfalt track.

Here some parts of the amazing Veyron racing on the tarmac together with a 430. The Veyron was reported to reach 270 kmh on the 1 km straight ....

Most likely the F70 will out perform the Veyron in all aspects. Top Speed, it better be damn close!

Does it really matter except for bar bragging rights?

 

Unless you have access to a high speed ring or salt flats there's no point having a car do more that 350 -370ish

 

And unless you plan to flea bay it afterwords there's no point in driving it on the salt flats either.

 

That Bug driver is very good, very smooth. Made the F430 driver look like a hack (and honestly..........) would not be surprised to find that was an F1 driver behind the wheel.

I think the F70 will keep up with the Bug in a similar drag race scenario. Unless Ferrari takes an sudden interest in the Texas Mile I think it'll be good for 220-250 (max).

 

with 800-900bhp, under 1200kg and active aero the new Ferrari should theoretically be capable of eclipsing the Veyron.

whether that is Ferrari's goal or not is besides the point - I think they'll do it anyway as a matter of course - world's fastest track car - and by the way also world's fastest car

 

I think you are going to be disappointed if you are expecting the car to weigh under 1200 kg. Hopefully they will manage to keep it under 1400 kg.

I would rather see the car performing really well at 0-200-0 km/h than a 370+ km/h topspeed.

 

The F70 will be much like the Enzo. I've heard people say over and over and I think Luca said a stock Enzo is capable of 240 mph but the down force of the car WILL NOT let it get to that much speed.

Ferrari doesn't need top speed to sell their cars. The Bugatti and other car makers have to have top speed thrown in to excite buyers.

Does anybody here really believe that if the Veyron did only 210 mph would any of them really sell? Every car brand has to generate passion. For Ferrari passion is mixture of styling, speed, handling and sound. For Lambo is all about the look. For Pagani its about styling, speed and crazy interriors.

Ferrari doesn't need "top speed" to be billed the best car in the world. People swear the 458 is the best car in the world along with people raving about the F12 being the best car in the world. Neither come close to the Veyron's top speed.

The new car does not weigh 1,200kg, it weighs a great deal more than that. I have said this since the beginning of the other threads, Ferrari is very interested in one record with this car and that record will best the Veyron in one area and it is not the top speed that Ferrari are concerned with. When Ferrari approached the XX clientele about the car, they specifically asked several of those customers if the car "needed" a VMAX of over 200mph, these customers said no. Ferrari ran a lot of ideas by the XX clients and the results are very good.
