No, Massa lost today because of his performance in about 10 races this season.

RB won the Constructor's today --Ferrari second. That's not because of Alonso's driving this year.

    Hehehe :D

I've got to wonder... where was this Massa all season?

What is it about Austin that really suits Massa, or why is it that he suddenly found form?

    All the best,
    Andrew.

    Success breeds success.
There's also the theory that he's been making up for the lack of testing by running unproven mods. (No pun intended)

What Brando's really saying is: A Dino is NOT a Ferrari. It's better.

Struggling with a very difficult dog named Clifford. His confidence was shot. He couldn't get Clifford to go round corners. Meantime, Fred tamed him.

His confidence is returning IMO. Typically, he's even better when he gets home......

Despite the nay-sayers, the fat lady hasn't sung yet. ;)

    Cheers,
    Ian

I've never thought it possible, but now I am actually relieved Ferrari decided to retain Massa in favour of signing Perez.

I guess there are more feeling that way...i mean, no one can denny Massa Sucked pretty much untill Monaco, but if you look at most of his races, the team let him down bad in pit stop strategy as well as pit stop service..many times he took +1s than Alonso, and while Alonso gained places during his stop, Massa lost them!!! And than, even if a driver knows he has to help, you can't expect him to keep his motivation at his very best when you do things to him like they did this sunday...after all, these guys risk theyr asses to put the fastest lap time than can, and after all that effort, the team come along and says to you...will drop you 5 places in order to put your team mate on the other side of the track!! I mean, you have to feel like **** after that, and your motivation for the race goes up in smoke!!
Truth is in the end, statistics will show Alonso beat massa in almost every race of the season but, in the last 8 nraces, starting at Spa, if there weren´t team orders, Massa would have finished 5 times in front of Alonso.

Yeah, even as a Massa fan, I don't think that's accurate. Until recently, Massa had a **** year. He's done very well as of late though. Wish he'd driven like this from the beginning of the season.

    +1.

BUT I will admit (as one of his biggest detractors) that he has been driving very well lately. If he keeps this up Ferrari will certainly prove me wrong since I thought it was dumb to re-sign him.

Finishing right behind ALO is all we can ask for. I'm happy he seems to have found his confidence again.

NO? Let´s see then, Startinh in Spa...easy, Alonso was choped by grosjean massa finished in the points....1.
Monza, felipe let alonso pass near the end, does anyone doubt he would have kept Alonso behind if he was really racing?...2...Japan, Another DNF for Alonso after ignoring Kimi at his side..2º for Massa...3, KOrea, Massa was a lot quicker than Alonso, caught him easily and would have passed him easily if he hadn´t been told to stay behind....4..And now at austin, he was faster all wekend, had he started from his position he would have finished ahead of Alonso pretty easily...and this makes 5.....you know, worst than Massa having to help Alonso (wich is his fault for not driving well in the first part of the season) the worst is people not recognizing what really goes on on the track.

This was a more amazing drive for Massa than the results show.

First, they stuffed him back five places to give Alonso a chance after FA's poor qualifying performance.

Then, his pit stop ran up to 3.3 sec in order to make sure they released him *behind* Alonso. Which, as did so many of his stops this year, tossed him into traffic with cold tires.

Then, when he was closing in on FA, he suddenly stopped gaining --- until he had to pick up the pace again to keep Button behind him.

This is the kind of thing that's been going on all year. Ferrari has been so fixated on running Alonso, that Massa has been getting stuffed up by poorly timed pit stops and little support from the team.

Can you wonder why he had trouble maintaining motivation, when it was clear that his whole job was to make Alonso look good?

Since Alonso has almost zero chance at the WDC (again), and they've already tossed away the WCC (which is a decision they made when they let FA nerf Massa off the track so many times in past years), I was almost hoping Vettel would clinch the WDC this week, so Ferrari might let Massa go for the win in his home GP.

Now, he'll be back to the role of sweeping up Alonso's crumbs.

Ferrari has certainly made Massa look worse than he is. Both with Schumi and with Alonso.
Look how well he did when it was Massa and Kimi.

But we knew, going in, that Alonso was going to be the sponsor's #1 driver.

I suspect that's one reason Schumi came back. He was not pleased with Ferrari's treatment of Massa.
