I have no idea about the merits of this case but you have to wonder how long he can skate so close to the edge.

 

What is "to escillate"?

A cross between escalate and oscillate? Is that a sinus wave getting out of the control span?

As to the topic of the bribery scandal, it can grow to a trillion dollars and I wouldn't really care. I am under no dillusions that the people running F1, or the teams, are saints. In fact, I'm surprised anyone really cares.

I'm not a Bernie fan, but I have to say that I'd rather Bernie get to leave on his own terms with full preparation. If he were to be suddenly removed, it could be very bad for the sport.

 

Certainly bad for business.

I'm just saying that there's less risk in Bernie retiring according to his plan. When a vacuum appears in nature, the filling of it tends to be violent.

 

Given the state of F1 we may have to destroy the village to save it.

Wow, there are a lot of dollars involved in this little dust up.

Actually I think the state of F1 is pretty good. Yeah, there are loser tracks like Korea and China but overall it seems like things are going pretty well.

As much as we've all *****ed about Bernie over the years; he stuck by and helped COTA get the race done in the U.S. For that alone I am happy with him, and hope he sticks around

A full calendar and yet more countries lining up for a race. A full grid, although HRT seems to be on thin ice, and the chase going down to the last race. Again.

I'd bet there's not another series anywhere that wouldn't mind being in their shoes right now.....

Agreed with that in general. Except that I wouldn't consider Korea a loser track, at least not for us TV watchers.

Still I have to say that my personal interest level is going down ever so slightly. Maybe it's age or maybe it's because all cars have become carbon copies of each other with different paint jobs. The "cost reduction" efforts have unfortunately turned it somewhat into a spec series. It was a lot more interesting a couple decades ago when there was more experimentation and fewer rules.

F1 is still the king on the hill but I wish it was a bit wilder.

 

Bernie is a ruthless businessman and has done what all the big names in history have done to protect their business and wealth. I think Bernie has done a great job marketing F1 to where it is today but even he would probably remove the aero war and have big engines!

In my opinion if a technology has a trickle down advantage to road cars than its worthy expense, I.e, sequential shift, carbon brakes, engine technology, etc..

Give the engineers more leeway to be creative and move the budgets to items we get to one day see in our cars!

As far as the business of F1, a worthy replacement should always be on stand bye as no one can ever predict the health or future of any one person,

All very fair comments.

The "problem" with the above is they're trying to at least contain, if not reduce, costs.

Let's say, for example, they change the rule and allow variable valve timing - Something we've had on the street forever. They'll get more power, costs will sky rocket, and the FIA will have to step in to slow 'em down again. To what benefit?
