As long as it stays up on YouTube, you can enjoy what they have to say about the Mondial and F50. Fast forward to 8:04 to start on the Ferrari segment..

Jeremy has held that same grudge against the F50 for 17 years.

F50's are awesome. The do vibrate,... but it's part of the experience. The engine being a stressed member is a main feature of the car from both design and driving experience. Much like the rawness of the F40 is what makes it special.

F50 Barchetta config is my favorite of the super cars from a sensory experience POV.

    Clarkson is nuts.

Sorry, I have to agree with him. The F50 has the styling of a clown car. The Mondial is really only popular because it's cheap to buy.

It doesn't photograph well, but I saw one on the road once and was very impressed. :)

    All the best,

Evo magazine rate the F50 as the best drivers Ferrari supercar.. They group tested it once against the 288, F50 and Enzo and it won easily.

Have you heard his recorded walk-around for Forza Motorsport 4? He gives basically this same criticism in the game, doesn't even try to like it! Which was funny because most of the supercars he raves about.

Peugeot 308 diesel at second place? Really? I drive one of these things and it is admittingly no BMW M3 or Ferrari 458, but still a very capable, practical and comfortable diesel. However, pretty it is certainly not.

I have always taken Clarkson with a grain of salt. When I started driving supercars myself so I could compare with what he was saying, it became a tonne of salt. Nevertheless, I still enjoy Top Gear a lot.

But I've never disagreed with so many remarks in a single episode as this particular one. It was still mildly entertaining, but the comments are getting very silly now. The TG Apocalypse DVD was also awful. I think TG might have run its course.

I have always loved the Mondial especially the convertible yet I do agree with you concerning its cost of entry in Ferrari ownership. When or if I am in a position to own my first Ferrari it will most likely be a Mondial Cabriolet.

The car to me is just so damn sexy.

Trust me, you will love it. Top Gear is a great show, but the priority is entertainment over facts (which is what makes it fun). The first version "Mondial 8" model had issues -- underpowered and the electrical systems were a bit overloaded. The later versions, particularly the 3.2 and t, are great cars. Very balanced, reliable, and amazingly fun to drive. My Mondial 3.2 was hands-down the best car I've ever owned. I didn't have room to keep both the Mondial and 330GT, but I think about the Mondial often. Let the press and those that haven't actually driven or lived with a Mondial bash it all they want, the "Mondial sucks" myth just makes for greater bargains for those in the know.

Maybe I'll be able to talk a friend into letting me drive his wifes Mondial next time I see him. I pretty much knew that the Mondial would be my choice after I saw my first Cabriolet.

They know perfectly well a 30 year-old car needs new fuel lines or it'll pee all over itself like their's did. It's just for fun. Nobody should feel the need to defend their car's honor. :)

The F-50 is the greatest car I have ever owned. I owned it with a friend, so I didn't have "full say" in ownership and we sold the car less than a year later.

I don't care what anyone says, it was great. Period

Those DVD specials are never as entertaining as the shows. Probably because it's too much car and less of them 3 together which is what makes the show fun to watch. Anyone can destroy a caravan or powerslide an M5..

    +1.

The Mondial remains one of my all time favorite Ferraris.

I am proud to say I owned one, and have countless fond memories of mine.

The Mondial is the only Four seat mid engine cabriolet ever built by Ferrari.

It gives you 90% of the driving experience of a 328 with the convenience of being able to enjoy it with your family.

    It is elegant and understated.

    A very special car indeed.

You know what is funny in a sense is that I have seen a huge percentage of modern and classic Ferrari's at either the dealership or at a restoration shop but I have yet to see an F50! Oh wait I almost forgot about Paul Frames F50 I saw in the shop at FoH way back when but I long too see and hear one in person.

I am one of those people who covets any and all Ferrari's, does that make me a Ferrari slut, a true enthusiast or a combination of both? There is no wrong answer ;) :D.

But in the end it's easy to deride any old car...

I think the F50 is fabulous. The Porsche 911 964RS really is fantastic to drive.
