Does anyone know when the final broadcast will air? I'm trying to set the DVR but not finding it, nor am I seeing anything on Speed's website.

I thought Varsha mentioned that it would be on this Saturday but I don't see it listed on Speed's site either.

I heard Speed management pulled the plug. Sounds like they are not pleased losing F1 broadcast rights, after building the fan base for the last 16 years.

    Cool, thanks.

You could tell Varsha was holding back tears in the last episode.

I hope that's not the case.

Not knowing all the business dealings, don't they have themselves to blame?

"Not knowing all the business dealings, don't they have themselves to blame?"

As I've told every sales guy that has ever worked for me, it's a sales issue :)

I'm hopeful, given NBC's work with the Tour de France, we'll see the same level of positive changes. I happened to be traveling from KL back to the states a couple of years ago, with a connection thru Heathrow. They were showing an F1 race on a BIG screen in one of the terminals. I couldn't believe how much better the coverage was, especially behind the scenes with Coultard, Jordan, etc.

I find the level of investment Speed has made over the last 16 years of owning the rights, while decent, to be less than I expect for the world's #1 racing venue/program.

Absolutely right they've got only themselves to blame.

Notice how only at the Austin round did we begin to see
advertising relevant to F-1. Where was this 16 years ago?

NASCAR will suck what little life there is left of SpeedTV
next year and then it becomes a 24/7 baseball channel.

    Yeah, good luck with that.

It's absolutely fantastic that side. It's now run by Sky, some people aren't pleased with new commentators but they do show ALL the racing that's going on all day, support races et all, behind the scenes footage still etc.

I'm not sure what the deal is completely, but apparently you can select 4 different camera's at once, so for instance you can have one on the main screen, one to see what Vettel is doing, one what Alonso is doing and the other on another battle...I'm not sure if that's 100% true but even so, they have the best coverage of anyone. I'm just very happy I get BBC commentary with Ben and DC. Although I think Ben had a hangover sunday as he missed quite a bit and reacted far too late on stuff :D.

I guess I don't need the SPEED channel any more......maybe time to lose that fat digital cable package and go with an HDTV antenna and streaming options like Netflix, Amazon Prime and Hulu.

    Thanks!

Althought it shows Barrett-Jackson Special at that time on my guide (UVerse). I'm setting it then though.

I'm hoping I will get NBC Sports on my satellite package. Watching this on the computer just won't cut it.

Yeah, I could do that but would the quality be as good as the direct feed to the TV? My laptop is several years old so I'm not sure it could deliver a high enough resolution to my 46" TV.

I'll just do a search to see if NBC Sports is in my area. If not, I'll call my satellite provider. :)

Depends on the source. If I stream from a certain website, the resolution is pretty crappy compared to full HD, but still better than nothing or SpeedTV commentating. Sometimes I'll just wait for a torrent of the race to be seeded. I prefer to watch the races uninterrupted, even if it means that I have to wait a few hours for the uploads. I also have to abstain from the internet until I watch the race. Its worth not watching the races on Speed and all their Viagra/NASCRAP commercials.

And what's severals years to you? are you on a Windows 95/XP machine?

I know there are better broadcasts but what you are describing just seems like too much work. I admit, I guess I'm kind of lazy. Maybe I'll check out an alternative broadcast and that will change my mind. I was cool with Speed's coverage but I guess I'm kind of naive. BTW, I record it and skip through the commercials so I don't have to deal with all the dreadful junk.

I am using a MacBook Pro that is about 3-4 years old. I'd be surprise if it could push full resolution to a 46" TV. Maybe it could. If I get NBC Sports, I'll do that. If not, I'll go the alternative route (internet). I mostly like to watch the cool sights in full HD and can live with less than A+ commentary. It's all good. :)

Quit being lazy! You are naive, BBC/SKY broadcasting is lightyears better than Speed!! Even though you can skip through the commercials, you are missing out on tons of race action, on top of the horrible commentating. I'm on a 2010 MacBook Pro, so if yours is 3-4 years old, it won't have a problem pushing full HD to your TV. I use mine on a 40" Sharp, and have used it on a 70" Sharp with no problems at all.
