Love the 575 wheels on your 456. Also the reminder that, in any color, the 456 is one of the prettiest Ferraris of. all. time. Cheers, George
Hi guys, I wanted to formally introduce myself as I join you on the 456//550/575 group, now that I have a 575. I will also, out of courtesy, will tell you a bit about me, so we get to know each other a bit. That is always nice. Importantly, I wanted to thank each and everyone of you in advance for the amazing friendly insights, help, and support you gave me. I love this forum. I l also love the humor, banter, and wit. That is always fun to have as well. So....I just bought 138077 in Seattle a month ago, after missing my 2000 nero on grey 550 which I had in New York. Funny enough, I had an F40 for 10 years, and although it is a beautiful and cool car, you will be happy to know that instead I actually missed my 550!! The Maranello is definitively going to be among the most classic, truly elegant Ferraris ever made. While some say it is going to be like the Daytona, I believe it is going to be even more beautiful with time... I am Italian, so I should actually say "beaauuutiful". I also work in the luxury and design field, and having also spoken to many fellow designers/friends in the automotive field in Italy, I can confirm that the majority of us believes that. I thought you would like to know that, since many of you feel talk about that already. This car, is nero on nero, my favorite combination for this model, but of course the other colors are amazing too, and color is truly personal. The first impression back to the Maranello is that it feels pretty substantial/big while driving (pretty normal, since I mostly drive my GT3RS), but when I see other 550/575s going by, if in a car on the same road, the nice surprise is that Maranellos actually looks quite small and agile. And super classic already! Love the upgrades vs. the 550; styling wise the front grille, especially the 04-5 in aluminum, dashboard/interior sportier/racier, and engine/transmission, although I love the more classic and unique features on the 550s as well. Surely I miss the 550 amazingly smooth manual gearshift. If I had the time to take care of it, I would love to also get a nice 550, e.g. ParkPlace's 550, which looks great and an elegant cuoio interior! I am actually quite impressed with the F1 transmission in sport mode. I thought I would never like it, but I do. I guess I am a romantic, but I have to accept the manuals are leaving us for good. (Thank god I have my GT3RS, which has an amazing manual gearbox). I like and chose 138007 because it is totally stock in its core components, including mufflers (other than the Barchetta wheels that are easily exchangeable). As some of you agree, I also personally like these rims because they are dished and have kind of a classic, old racing look. They were installed by the previous owner, who like me actually liked that specific look. Everybody goes modern on a classic older car. In this case this one is now cool and unique with this classic look on a more modern car. I had the same Speedline 18's wheels on my 550. The previous owner, was also meticulous and kept the car in mint condition, always serviced by FoS. As soon as I got the car, I immediately had it all fully re-serviced by FoS, plus lowered/cambered. Next steps are: get stiffer suspension and big brembos brakes installed. Also get original set of new 19's modulars soon, keep the 18's and once in a while, rotate both 18's and 19's rims. The car is a great complement to some of my other favorite cars I own, especially my black 997 GT3RS and black E39 M5. I tend to either buy current, very modern cars (new and newer models), or like these days, going back to more classics (such as the 575). This car to me is already a classic compared to current F cars. This is based on my purely subjective sense when I think of car beauty, purity, classic originality of design and performance/total experience. In fact, the more new F cars come out, e.g. FF, F12, even the 458, the happier I am because they all help make our cars become more classic. But I also appreciate and like some of the latest Ferrari models, especially the 458 and F12. Here are some photos I quickly took today in my garage in Bellevue. PS: Will be very happy to chat/meet any Maranello/Ferrari owners in Bellevue/Seattle area. I just moved here from New York - will continue living on both Coasts. Also, cheers to Fchat Maranello owners in Europe and Asia. Having lived in both regions, I know how cool is to drive these cars in your areas Love the Pacific Northwest. Love the people, lots of amazing roads to discover, stunning nature - spectacular here. Feel free to contact/PM me to connect. Finally, if anybody needs Italian translation/support regarding these cars, or Italy for that matter, pls don't hesitate to PM. Matthew, what a great car,,,,,,Black/Black is the best color combination for 575. I used to have 575 HP and now I start to find one agan,,,,, at that time, I sold 575 and bought california,,,,now, I sold california and time to get back 550 or 575 back! ^^ thanks for the nice pics! Jimi from Seoul, Korea.
Thanks Jimi. I am happy you agree. I love Seoul. People have refined style and love luxury brands. You must be the coolest guy in town with those cars. BTW, I used to live in Singapore, HK and Tokyo, and came up to Seoul many times. Are there many 550/575s in Korea? Do you look just locally or regionally ?
Matthew, Great pictures Your car is beautiful ! I love my 550 and it will never be for sale .... I added the Barchetta wheels and love them for the same reasons you talked about. Enjoy your wonderful new car. cheers, Bill
_M A T T H E W_, Wow, your car looks . . . evil. I mean that in the best possible way. Really really lovely-looking ride. And I'd like to hear more about how you had it lowered. Aftermarket springs/shocks?
Hahaha I hope I am just one of them^^ thanks for the warm comments on my country. there are not that many 550 and 575 in Korea (only around 10) since Korean economy had struggled to recover from IMF control period late 90,,,,, However, quite many 430 and the models afterwards,,,, I went school in US so I have many English tongue freinds so feel free to comtact me when you come to korea! Jimi
I did it with Ferrari of Seattle. We used the lowest factory HGTC setting for the coilovers and more negative camber. The car rides best on sport settings for sure, unless your really drive on rough surfaces. It did reduce the rear squatting in acceleration, but overall it needs stiffer shocks and springs. Will do it when I have a chance. Thank you. Would love to see your car. Will look for photos of yours here in our forum .
Pic of my 575 taken a few weeks ago as I got to enjoy her on my bday in sunny 65-degree weather in December. Thought the old barn made a great backdrop and interesting contrast with the modern lines of the car!
